Kinect Fighting Game “Too Dangerous for Versus Play”

The developers of “Fighters Uncaged,” a motion controlled fighting game for the Xbox 360′s Kinect, says that a two player mode had to be taken out as it is just “too dangerous.”
Commenting on the game’s two player options, the producer was heard to say:
“Versus mode was a bit too dangerous. It’s possible to do, but people just end up hitting each other.”
Although it seems possible overexcited players standing next to each other could be asking for trouble, online multiplayer would appear to conveniently sidestep this issue…
Fighters Uncaged itself, to be released by Ubisoft in November, certainly seems an excellent idea on paper, but there are lingering doubts as to just what level of motion control finesse can be expected from these games:

Probably some of the WORST character designs to ever grace the fighting game scene. And that's AFTER considering Time Killers and Fighter's History.
Wouldn't these characters just pull out the gats (sideways) and start blasting?
I wonder if it will be true to "street culture", where if a player gets the upper hand, the opponent's gangbanger friends join in and jump the player.
Have you ever been outside your gated community? Yea people get jumped, but a lot of thugs try to coax you into one on one brawls to assert their dominance. Street brawling like this happens all the time.
a fighting game that has no 2 player mode is not a fighting game, it's a beat'em up and a pretty crappy one at that.

This should be renamed "STRIKERS UNCAGED" since it's pretty much a striking punching, elbow, kicking, kneeing..etc game.

So now they're copying Sony too? And what the hell? No multiplayer?! This is a Fighting game M$! The ability of multiplayer is integral to the game play.
I hope Capcom dicks them over and releases Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or one of the Tekken vs. Street Fighter games the same day to totally destroy their sales.

Was requirement for motion control making the game really really ugly? I think Stree Fighter Alpha on PS1 looked better.

This looks so unbelievably pathetic. Character moves look silly and game unbelievably unfunny. Like limiting Street fighter to 3 attacks and playing it on a DDR pad.
realistically i doubt you'll ever see more from a motion controlled fighter.
ultimately they have to make the game playable by the largest possible group, which isn't going to be trained martial artists.
and i'm not saying all gamers are going to be fat lazy slobs, but the reality is most people (gamers or not) are likely to hurt themselves if they are encouraged to act like Jet Li.
the only good thing with Kinect in this game is that if you are in the US you can file a case against microsoft if you got injured while playing this game. let's say that you played this game and after you kick you accidentally slipped and got injured.
if kinect is that good can you grab your opponent can you grab his dick or poke his eye or crush his balls can you grab the ropes in the ring and strangle your opponent to death or is there an instant kill. what if you are holding something like a knife if kinect is that good it should be able to detect the knife

Too bad for the 360. The PS3 had some kind of fighting game like this with move, but there was a multiplayer mode, I think.

Eh, looks kind of slow on the receiving of the body motion input. It looks pretty hard to fight online with these in mind, especially considering the timing for blocks and combos and whatnot. I'll stick with my Blazblue for now, thanks.

What would be the point of designing multiple characters if all their movesets would essentially be the same? YOU ARE the controller right? I could take that a step further by saying their movesets would depend on your own martial abilities.
Heck wouldn't black belts totally wipe the floor with people without martial arts training in the game?
Maybe. But you could probably make strange moves that never would work in RL and make dmg with it..

kinect fighting game was inevitable. this kind of shit is just another gimmick that won't really work. however, i would like to see sega make a fighting game for the kinect. virtua fighter irl would be the shit.
SEGA should make a VOC@LOID fighting game instead...

from the promo it doesn't look that impressive
to be honest I don't like how there is so much hype about kinect and no substance they promise a lot but in the end I feel this product will be making very little impact in the gaming market. it's really gonna be this generations virtual boy to be honest

I can't really understand UbiSoft. Why haven't they just added an other accesory for the Wii with wich you can stick the motion controller onto your legs?
The most pressing matter is how fast can the motion sensor register players. If you dish out the pain too fast for Kinect to track then you'll probably just see your in-game character doing a bunch of awkward motions.
