Not to bash the show itself, but maybe if there was less focus on boobs and ass in anime, then these censorship issues wouldn't be so common today. Make it like the good old days, where we had to wait and hope for our nudity unless we were watching a harem show.

Why even pick up the show if they censor the gore and fanservice to an obscure level? Instead of using black "shadowing" to censor the gore, why not make it something worthwhile, like having rainbows and candy spill out instead of blood? I'd totally watch it, just for the laughs.

The AT-X version is edited for violence, it's not uncensored.
I'm so happy that most subbing groups don't bother with the censored versions...fuck this blackout censor shit, it gets worse every episode. Like you said before, they may as well not even play anything on the censored version and just have the dialog.

When did "Late Night" lose it's touch? We had Umineko that had people faces getting torn off, and stabbed in the head, and Queens Blade. Why they even bother is good question indeed.
They realized they can make assloads of money censoring the aired on TV version then release an uncensored DVD when the show is over. Otaku money falls out of wallets easily.
Except uncensored versions are easily found to contradict that. They'd actually be losing viewers/money since the uncensored is so easy to find now.

I just go with Horriblesubs nowadays. True 720p for the win.
I've been waiting for TMDs releases, their 720p looks good and the translation appears to be more accurate than horriblesubs. Plus they've got softsubs and not those godawful embedded dvd quality hardsubs.
HorribleRaws uses the streamed version, which is more censored than the ATX broadcast. For example, the groping in one of the episodes was censored in the streamed version, while it wasn't in the ATX broadcast. And as most people said, the 720p is an upscale, it looks sharper because it was oversharpened. It doesn't mean it's better.
From what I read they are all 480p and that the 720p versions are all upscales, therefore, no difference, I even downloaded both and could see virtually no difference on my 25" display.
Sharp does not mean quality, you imbecile.
Hmm, strange. Because my 720p files looked quite a bit sharper. Which is the reason why I switched from GG subs to Horriblesubs.
No doubt, I'm sure they are upscaled to a certain point. True 720p shows like Sengoku Basara 2 are eyeblowingly sharp.
Read between the lines, anon. I'm saying Basara 2 files on the net are probably actual 720p quality. While Highschool of the Dead files seems upscaled.
I expect stations are indeed given something closer to 480p than 720p, but "it doesn't gain enough" sounds to me like gg's 480p releases probably trace back to the whining of a single tard on the project.
1080p > 720p > 480p.
BUT, the encoder needs to know what he does. A great 480p encode can very well look better than a shitty 720p encode. Especially when it's upscaled.

The only reason we can see up to 2GB per ep is because of idiots who use some front end for dummies and just throw the files at it using the original settings. Maybe even constant bitrate. Not sure, I won't leech such abominations.
