manga today, aint like the classics T-T
You mean complete shit?
If you actually searched for good manga you would be surprised to find many that are actually pretty impressive of today.
You know diamonds in the rough.
And no I'm not talking about looking through shonen jump.
>No Go Nagai
>No Rumiko Takahashi
>No CLAMP
Japan, I am disappoint.
CLAMP can go suck my dick!!!
They'd have to go find it first, since it's so small.
PWNED.
Go CLAMP!!!
>Trying to green text outside of 4chan
Seriously? I do agree, however.
Clamp is shithouse. They just do the same fucking thing over and over again with slightly different backdrops... same characters, same character designs, same plot devices, etc. All they care about is their character design.
This retarded list do not need to be taken seriously.
It lacks Rumiko Takahashi, Go Nagai, Johji Manabe, Yuzo Takeda...and many more important names than those choosed. Useless.
Some names are OK, like Tezuka.
No Masamune Shirow! Ridiculous list!
Why's Oda on the list? I like One Piece and all but Oda has created like one series which isn't complete. Shouldn't they add him after he atleast completed one series? Plus where's Rumiko Takahashi? She made some of the most popular manga among the girl/woman demographic.
Oda and takahashi are popular, but they are not history changing artist.
Go Nagai deserves a lot more praise than them.
Well I have to say Oda revolutionized manga by omiting the main character practicing a special move for a week before he uses it in combat.
Hence why Luffy was Man handeled during the war.
To be expected of Goda, Only today's narutards and bleachtards are filled with jealousy to take shots at OP and can't admit defeat or show some respect.
I don't read Naruto and Bleach is shit, but OP is just shitty enough to be even lower than that. I don't show reverence for trash. If it's something decent like Dragon Ball, sure.
Go READ One Piece.
No Go Nagai!? Bullshit! the man damn near invented every modern anime genre. School comedy with sexual jokes? anymore skin in Harenchi Gakuen and he would have invented the first hentai comic. Giant robots? He was a first guy to give them an actual pilot riding in the robot! Blood and guts and epic battles Berserk and Dragonball have devilman to thank for blazing a trail. Magical girls? two words; Cutey and Honey!
One Piece? How did that change anything except maybe (some) shonen, the design style, and pirate manga?
the sale volumes is more then any other top 10 Manga from you list together !!!!
One Piecetards must be jacking off to this list as we speak.
No Go Nagai? D:
Its good to see some tezuka love on this site- i havent been a memeber for all that long, there may be more somehwere, but its good all the same.
Yup, I see some really influential mangaka missing from this list, like Rumiko Takahashi, Go Nagai, Ishinomori Shotaro and CLAMP, as understandably, this is a specialized site. Only particular types of manga and anime are considered because of their... recreational value. >P
Ruimiko Takahashi they call her princess and she's not on the list? Just another list of pointless drivel statistics with no connection to reality.
I don't see Rumiko...
I'm calling bullshit on this one...
why you wanna make Lum sad?
Lum will ignore or, for better, electrocute all idiots behind this list. Only half of those names belong in Top 10.
Good for him he chose manga cause Gynaecologist = looking at old vagina's = not fun.
Wait, where are the mangaka who created Golgo 13 and Saint Seiya?
You not knowing his name is a good indication of why he isn't on the list.
really? no Go Nagai?
I thought that, too. Well most of YOU probably don't like his works, but he first made manga to contain more daring themes in the 70s, like it is standard today. It's said that he invented "ecchi". He was undeniably influential.
He also single handedly founded the Super Robot genre and laid the foundations for later Real Robot series with Mazinger Z! Hell, he invented modern magical girls! The sailor scouts wouldn't taunt us with their almost naked bodies if it hadn't been for Cutey Honey! This list is a COMPLETE fraud!!
Gosho Aoyama is not on the list? I am disappoint.
No Rumiko Takahashi or Adachi Mitsuru means i dont believe this list is worth being taken seriously .
shocked to see no Hirohiko Araki
Only know five of those titles, and three one of those in manga format. But where is Go Nagai?
If he wanted to be gynecologist he must be touching below...
but wasn't TEsuka a doctor before mangaka, and a good one.
He is a qualified doctor but he never practised and went into manga production full time after he graduated medical school.
Fujio F. Fujiko as a historical mangaka will always be in my Book of Approval.
10 years from now, Kaworu Watashiya should be on that list..
FUCK YEA Naoki Urasawa... 20th cb is full of win
Fuck yeah Gineco-Tezuka!
I lol`d since Tezuka was a doctor to begin with.
When he achieved such sucess with his early works, he turned into a full time mangaka.
Come on. Wikipedia its just a step away.
Nagai's missing! But the others are great too.
And that thing about Tezuka wanting to be a gynecologist, you did that just for the pageviews, right? You suck man, that's not what makes Tezuka great, that's just one of his silly facts! His works may sound "Lol japanese fetish lol" but it's nothing like that, he was just bizarre, he could draw very crude stuff with a style so lovely it made Snow White(a movie that he loved along with Bambi and other Disney movies) shiver! He was truly a great person!
Tezuka's works talk about SRS BSNS so well, you don't EVEN know, it's nothing like moe shit, he always deals with serious topics even in the silliest of his stories, and he wrote so many comics that his list of complete works doesn't even have them all!
Go read Adolf, Hi No Tori, Black Jack, MW, it's nothing like all the moeshit around here, THOSE are really great.
Just wanted to say that, you know, because people such as you would think that he's your typical pervert or something, he was a genius.
I am with you in most you say. But moe was no a stranger to Tezuka, he has numerous moe loli in his works. You should know this if you have really READ his works.
If he lived today, he would be very happy of how healthy moe is today.
Take a new look at top image!
Tezuka was a genius with a pervert side like all other normal ppl, if they are honest to themselves.
SAILOR MOON (NAOKO TAKEUCHI)!!
THEY ARE ALL SHIT
For sure Fujio Akatsuka’s best work is the very funny Tensai Bakabon
http://www.japansugoi.com/wordpress/tensai-bakabon-anime-and-manga/
haha osamu wanted to be gyno brilliant!
Why is Go Nagai not on that list?! Is this telling us tha the first guy to have a teenager piloting a super robot(among other things) did not change manga history??
well, as for me
adachi mitsuru's work always wonderful
but, in my country, they sell Narutard on fixed price, and H2 on very-very big discount, not to mention their release date are different but, come on...
It still blows my mind that that picture is real. So awesome.
No Nagai? NO NAGAI?
this list must be a complete fake!
No Go Nagai? Fail list is fail
Have to like that image. He gets to do what he wants, and touch naked women.
WTF where is Masami Kurumada???!!!
Alright Mr. Tezuka! He was still just a man...
I always wanted to be a dildo
1. Rumiko Takahashi
from 2 to infinity: the rest
Rumiko Takahashi?
You are a beginner in manga, anime & other otaku interests, aren`t you?
Maybe you have nothing to do here with your minimal knowledge?
Go back to cartoons.
No me jodan... y donde quedan las CLAMP???
Y claro... donde quedó GO NAGAI!??? ES EL PUTO AMO DE LOS SUPER ROBOTS!!!
The HELL? Where's Go Nagai? He practically INVENTED giant mecha manga!
As soon as i read the title i thought Osamu Tezuka
same here... actually I thought of 2 other names too (Fujiko F. Fujio and Akira Toriyama)
Those three are legendary on their own, and holds to a tier far above others IMO.
Kinda saddened by the fact that Hirohiko Araki isn't there on the list tho... :(
OMG! That's Jackie Chan in the picture!
And I thought I couldn't like Tezuka anymore. That's awesome. xD
the only thing I hate about Tezuka is that he leaving this world too early, he should be granted eternal life to watch over manga history.
Yes, They didn't call him the god of manga for nothing.
*plays angelic music*
-Forever may he rest in heaven-
Sooooo true.
But oh well, I see him as patron saint of Manga and Anime.
Tezuka WUT!?
10. [drawn] Naoki Urasawa (20th Century Boys)
He never was a strong finisher anyway.
Yay! No Kishimoto for you narutards!
the day when sishimoto make any goog contribution to manga history is when either he dies or when he finishes naruto once and for all
It's funny: I hate the Naruto fanbase just as much as the normal population. I started reading Naruto when it first came out but after years of dealing with the fantards, I took a long break from the series. Recently, I found myself with too much time, which led me to let go of my sanity just enough to catch up on the manga. After all, I don't think it's unfair to hate something without knowing what it is fully; it's unjustifiable, in my opinion. To put simply, I was pleasantly surprised. Kishimoto, unlike Kubo Tite's Bleach and many other shounen series, had developed a pretty congruent world with a lot of backstory. It didn't feel like he was making it up as he was going anymore.
I digress, as long as I can avoid contact with any Narutards, I think I'll be able to enjoy the series.
That's how I eventually managed to finish reading Ranma 1/2 in the 90s.
The only thing that's got me wondering is who the hell keeps voting for 'Slam Dunk'?
See above.
I read that the Sazae-san manga was very feminist and left-leaning compared to the anime, which caters to Japanese traditionalists.
It's a good thing Osamu Tezuka didn't become a gynecologist, since in the picture he's no where near her vagina (which is the first thing gynecologists need to learn).
Aww...Ken Akamatsu should have been there...the man has revolutionized the many ways to instill every kind of fanservice his fans could want into his series!
he is good but not that influent on the course of manga history. the same goes for yoshiyuki sadamoto...
But i wonder why the creator of the gundam franchise isnt there? he was THE man behind mecha desgn all these years...he pratically invented that
I think it's more to do with manga than anime - gundam was a much bigger breakthrough as an anime than a manga.
hmn..yeah...didnt think about that side of the coin...
I'd knew Tezuka'll be in the list.
Actually, they all deserve to be in the list, all of them. :3
I wondered when reading the title that Ishinomori Shotaro (creator of Kamen Rider) will be in the list.
Me too. He also created the whole tokusatsu craze.
Another one who deserved to be there was, of course, Go Nagai (to complete the "holy Tezuka - Ishinomori - Nagai mangaka lineage"), he created the humungous mechas, not to mention taking the boundaries of what can be considered shounen manga to quite an extreme back then.
I'm severely disappointed with Fujio F. Fujiko being below Akira Toriyama.
I mean, Doraemon saved me from becoming a cold kid with zero imagination and messed up in the head. Hell, I'm pretty sure Doraemon made so many other people's childhood more fun. Regardless of whether or not they're willing to admit it.
All Akira Toriyama did was to continue to increase Goku's power from Saiya LV1 to LV4 until he became a God(OVER 9000!). Now, it's spread into a cancer with people roleplaying Vegeta endlessly with badly written text with bad grammar.
yup...
they mistook influent for famous there....both are good but doreamon was waaayyy more important in maga history than dragonball
I'm still waiting for santa to bring Doraemon magic pocket to me
I thought it was because his paint peeled off
After his ears were bitten off by the rat. He was so shocked when he saw himself earless in the mirror that he turned blue.
I know why doraemon has no ear, but I damn curious why he's colored blue ? can someone tell me ? I may missed or forget that episode
A friend of mine TA'd Japanese in university, and one group did a project on Doraemon, where one of them cosplayed him and produced a bottle of sake to bribe my friend. He still gave them only 9 out of 10 for not knowing why Doraemon had no ears and was coloured blue.
DAMN YOU SANTA!!
T_T
While Doraemon certainly did impact Japan and some parts of Asia, it is no where close to Dragon Ball's popularity around the world. Even before Dragon Ball Z(the one you are referencing to), Dr. Slump and the original Dragon Ball were both very creative and adventurous. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Doraemon since I grew up on it, but it is unfair to only credit Toriyama for ONE, no, HALF of one of his works.
Slam dunk didn't only change the manga industry, but it also revived basketball in japan and many other asian countries. But IMHO, Vagabond is the true masterpiece of Inoue.
anw, I know Oda is good and all, but does putting him in this list seem kinda inappropriate? I mean, his style is unique but did it really make any major change in manga history?
Oda single handedly raised the failing sales of Shounen Jump after DBZ,Kenshin etc ended. Most successful sales for any manga, ever(in Japan)....But it seems nobody cares about these facts.
Honestly? I Thank, Oda for helping to keep the industry afloat, but I am not going prostrate myself to someone I don't even know.
And Real is fucking awesome.
He's kind of the best-selling manga author of all time. He even beat Toriyama.
