Japanese actor Takeru Satoh, known best for a series of roles in drama, has been identified as the most likely actor to play the role of Himura Kenshin in a rumoured movie adaptation of hit Shonen Jump bakumatsu era samurai manga Rurouni Kenshin.
One unnamed source connected with the film reports that the Rurouni Kenshin film is going ahead, and that Satoh has the role.
Satoh has “just the right look, and there aren’t many actors with the right image for Kenshin” he says. Satoh himself has already trained in cinematic swordplay for an earlier samurai role.
Another source supposedly validates this:
“Back when it had just ended serialisation there was talk of a movie adaptation, but back then manga being adapted to film wasn’t something you really saw much, unlike now.
Add to this the fact that CG technology wasn’t very good… CG tech has come a long way since then. As a result, the movie was suddenly decided upon recently.”

*starts to sing Climax Jump* I wouldn't be surprised if the actor of Kenshin suddenly Break Dances and finishes who ever the villain of the movie is with a Rider Kick! XD
isn't it isn't it Splended
so hope they work in a joke were he tries on a Momoto mask
最高です!。
Hope this doesn't end up like a fking movie Avatar: The last Airbender...
Pair Sato Takeru with his real life BFF Miura Haruma as Sano and we will get Kenshin ver. homoerotic.
He was Kamen Rider Den-O. Awesome!
But he was also a Princess in Princess Princess.
Oh god why did I have to find that out, a good trap he does not make >_<
I just hope that they can adapt the manga perfectly as with the manga adaptation of 20th Century Boys. That was one of the best manga adaptation I have seen.
IIRC Watsuki Nobuhiro was also quite angry with the original anime adaptation of the series, and forbid the Enishi arc to be animated. He was hand twisted with the OVA's, and till now, he feels that they could have done better.
The last ova reflection was a let down, i think the biggest in history. Trust and Betrayal were well portrayed and it was the fillers that killed rurouni kenshin, samurai x:reflection had to much drama and it didn't feel like the samurai x we had grew to love, yes it was interesting to see the greatest slasher in history human limits but it was to pushed, the whole fact that a ACTION series had only 5-6 mins of actually fighting in a movie that was about a hour and a half shows how much they failed.
Can I dare to hope. Live action adaptations of mange/anime have been disappointing at best. I really hope they can pull this off though.
I was about to say....for a second I thought Hollywood took up this one as well. Rurouni Kenshin starring Tom Cruise lol.
The Last Battousai
If it doesn't go well.
You can always blame Decade.
"Onore Dikeido"
Now they just need to find someone badass enough to play Hajime Saitou, if such an actor exists...
Hiro Mizushima/Tendou Souji from Kamen Rider Kabuto
NOOOOO
I can bear Dagon Ball live action movies, I can bear a street fighter live action movies... But not Kenshin!
Its sad how easy is to destroy a legend in theese times...
Den-O Battousai Form
They managed Kamen Rider, this'd oughta work, why not?
nice !! legend !! alive
wait...Wasn't he Kamen rider Den-O?
fuckin dick needs to reprise his role in Den-O
Ore Sanjou, de gozaru!
Huh... O_O
I hope it has lot of kick ass action too and not just loads of storyline ^^ Either way, I can't wait to see it ! Weeeeee !
FUCK YEAH!
Hollywood strikes again(????)
another movie that's gonna suck really bad
Isn't he the guy from Kamen Rider Den-O?
Somehow, he doesn't give the "Kenshin" vibe
this is going to be awesome, i hope the dude can portray kenshin very well. :D
he is Kamen Rider Den-O
ehhhhh!? <usualy his role trademark in den-o and might be use when his playing the comedic guy kenshin
the dudes hot, dont know how its skills on stage are, but let us hope it wont be total crap
Prepare for Den-O jokes in the Kenshin movie.
Like this?
Oro, Sanjou!
I can't hear you
Nakeru De! snaps neck* 45 degrees to the right
Axe form den-o =w=)
Kenshin isn't a man that lives in the fashion world so obviously a rough looking guy would be a better fit person.
Oh and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO no Live action of one of my favorite OVA's!
Kenshin was never a rough looking guy. The opposite, actualy.
I agree Kenshin is a girl with no boobs and a penis.
True. He's short and looks like a girl. But isn't he supposed to be 28?
I'll be fine with this as long as they stray away from the super "Saiyan Christians" shit they pulled at the end of the show.
OMG PLEASE I BEG YOU DONT MENTION THE FILLER!! it still hurts, to know fillers could do almost irrepairable damage.
hmmm maybe worth a shot still death note is the only live action movie that is actually good the only anime the would interesting in a live action is darker than black but then again i fear for the quality
Never saw 20th Century Boy adaptation I reckon?
Death Note movies = Quality? What the fuck were you on when you were watching those? Those movies were horrible and completely raped plot wise.
Awwww... Don't be so mean to mentally retarded people, will ya?
If someone wants to know who he is, watch Kamen Rider Den-O ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rXvsVRhvUI ) episodes or clips on youtube.
Why can't they just come up with ideas for, y'know, new movies? It's sad to see stories sullied by this kind of hideous thing.
Agreed...live action adaptations are horrible and in my opinion sully the name of the series. We have 2 perfectly good examples of pure fail right now...the dragonball movie and the new avatar movie...not to say that i really care about dragonball since i hated it since they went beyond the original Dragonball, and i hated avatar period.
Seriously why? Can't people come up with their own stories?
I know it's hard to come up with an original story, everything you write comes off as similar to something else. But then again, adaptations are never loyal to the original, which means that in the end they DO end up writing something that's just similar but not quite the same.
In the end they do it to cash in the reputation of the original :(
Himura Imagin possesses him.
Henshin into Kenshin.
wait for it new meme in coming!
sweet cant wait ^_^
I hope they do a movie of Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal instead of try to fit a whole arc of the series into one movie. Assuming they can pull off the emotions properly, it would be awesome.
I feel they will use the OVA because the actor looks best as Kenshin when he was younger.
I just don't know what they would do with this. Kenshin might not be as hard to pull off as some others since it's not too fantasy-like, but I'd like to see more of the story that I actually like and not some bastardization *cough cough dragonball evolution*
Thus, I agree that Trust and Betrayal could be a great thing to see; I love that story.
He might make a good Kenshin with reddish-brown hair.
I don't know how I feel about this. I hope it turns out well, as I enjoyed the series.
he does seem to give off a kenshin vibe in looks but as naturally skeptic as I am bout Live action adapatations hopefully he'll fit the bill on character personality.
Well at least it may be better than a hollywood production
Mangaka rejected Hollywood's offer of adaptation.
There's not enough celebratory balloons for his decision.
How are they gonna pull of the hitenhitsurugi moves?
Blacking the screen. Slash like light coming from 8 directions and 1 light from the mid. 8 circular sphere rotating and end up with a small big bang.
L2Read?
They already gave the clue .. -_-'
They can layer multi clips together at once.
At least, it looks like the actor and staff are Japanese.
Live Action adaptations are annoying when other countries do it. In that case, it looks more like a ripoff that an adaptation.
Even japanese adaptations are annoying . Dont see the diffrences between western and theirs ;] . Both suck .
i was hoping this was going to be a western made film T.T i'd love to see it bastardized and have samuel l jackson cast as kenshin..
Samuel L jackson would end up being the dude with the long arm, because this'll be yet another part on the section of manga where kenshin talks about his past with tamoe. Again. Not that I will mind, but I really would like to see them do the part with Enishi. If THAT happens, sameul L jackson could be Saito. Just to really fuck with things.
At least we don't have an all white cast in a movie about series of events that take place during the Meiji Restoration.
He looks gayer than liberache....
Hate those LV adaptations, by the way, who cares about Kenshin now?
certainly not you
In Soviet Russia, Kenshin cares about YOU.
HHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHH!
well, in my head now there's only one thing when I read your comment;
"Fuck, this guy seems not to know any shit of Satou Takeru and yet pouted out some shitty comments..."
Well, I do hope you watch some kamen rider den-o episodes or clips, and compare it to your suckish impression.

Everyone but you.
live actions are know for failing badly but i really hope they pull this old school anime classic off. ^^
American live-action anime are complete shit. Japanese ones run the gamut though-- some suck, some are quite good.
That Nodame Cantibile live action looks pretty good.
I think he could fit the role really well considering he seems to do the shy/reserved-kid act quite a bit including the monstrously successful Kamen Rider Den-O TV series and all those movies he did for it.
Funny enough, Satoh dressed up in Samurai kimono quite a bit since they kept traveling back in time in the Kamen Rider Den-O series.
Climax Jump Ver.Kenshin?
*Climax Jump Kenshin form
I am just waiting for Momotaros to possess Kenshin...
I preferred the live action over the animation myself, partly due to sheer slapstick and random "SIEG ZEON" out of nowhere.
Oro Sanjou !!
I agree. Actually, I have a strange feeling that this might be a success. I think they can pull it off. I hope they do. I'll be optimistic about it
True.
If it doesn't go well however , you can always blame it on Decade.
ONORE DIKEIDOOOO!!!
as long as its not made by an american company
there are some animes, just like games or other things that shouldnt be transported into another midia...
like, how the hell they are going to do the techniques of the manga? the is this "thing" about the fights and skills that wont go smooth IRL...
Ever watched CASSHERN and GOEMON?
*Claps*
How you like them apples!?!
They will just remove all the fighting from the sript. I'm sure of it.
computers can do wonders
kenshin vs kyo .... that would be a blast
I'm just gonna cry now and save myself the pain. Live action movies never follow through right, so I don't wanna get any hopes up.
If they base the technique and swordplay on the 1st OVAs then mimicking the moves won't be that challenging especially with all the cg effects and of course depends on the actors skills.
i am cautiously intrigued.
Rurouni Den-O:
They could cast Momo as Sano, Ryuta as Yahiko, Hana as Kaoru, Owner as Gensai, Naomi as that waitress, Ura as Aoshi Yuuto as Saito and Kin-chan as Seijuro.
I get the feeling that this rumored movie will become a successful one; due to some reasons in my own head;
1. He has played Nogami Ryoutaro, as well as the four Imagins host in a very successful way.
2. His role for Ryoutarou-Momotaros will be a base as this Imagin used kenjutsu in fighting scenes.
3. He's a very good in acting.
4. This movie will not be make by a shitty Hollywood company.
Kenshin should be played by a woman posing as a man. In particular, Jodie Foster.
He was extremely annoying in Den-O
as nogami I suppose; not as another Imagin when he's possessed by them.
I agree I watch the OAV it was like he's was an emo or something.
