K-ON!’s game debut on the PSP has been detailed, and a number of relatively impressive screenshots have been released of the nearly complete game.
The game, said to be 75% finished, will take the form of a music/rhythm game in which simple timing of button presses allows the player to progress through a series of performances of music seen in the anime; skilled play enables access to special performances.
A multiplayer mode is promised for the bold.
Put more tersely and less charitably, the game is Project Diva with K-ON! characters instead of Vocaloids, even down to Sega being the developer. Success seems assured.
Screenshots have been released:
Release is expected in Autumn.

here comes another retarded japanese shit game.
Here comes another retarded (insert your country of origin here) shit comment.
This is just perfect. I mean, seriously, is there anything more suited for K-On! than a rhythm game? (Alright... Perhaps a K-On! fighting game would have been pretty epic.)
Not to mention, this game looks to be one that's actually worth buying. Unlike the various Visual Novels and Adventure Games that have been produced for various other Anime series (Code Geass, Haruhi, etc..), one need not understand a ton of Japanese to enjoy a rhythm game.
If you nothing else to play this game is for you and are you a fan of K-ON this is for you, but yeah I'm quite like the Rythm game too since I have been playing kind of looking games.
I think Guitar Hero sucks when is come to this game lol
make it into a Guitar Hero / Rock Band / Band Hero and I'll buy it
GAH it's another one of those over-done games with a moe guise again
I'm waiting for Project Diva 2nd, thank you.
OMFG !!!! 0_o
Project Diva with K-ON! = DO WANT NAO!
I'm believing in God again now. In Buddha too.
Way to go, Japan! :)
they better add some ADV elements or I'm not buying it
Wait, music game?
It's like 1st person shooter about Clannad.
at least they'll sing in the video game lol
lol ur fuckin funny son
Awesome. I'll have to try and find my PSP, where ever it is... I threw it in a cupboard somewhere after I got my iPhone for gaming and haven't bothered with it since.
I'm so gettin it.
reminds me of Guitar Hero
Hope we get Nodoka and Yui as secret characters
Fuck...I kind of like the game...but I hate K-ON.
Might be moe, but is creepy as well
Is moe and at the same time creepy
I believe Yui looks Moe enough to be a Touhou boss.
Cry otaku, CRY.
looks terrible. freeware grade at best.
And here I was hoping for a musical visual novel adventure game that slaps you in the school life of Yui, like Persona, except for with musical minigames and practice performances. Way to miss the boat, SEGA.
I love K-ON!, but I this game, I don't.
Looks like Idolm@ster vocal trainning for the PSP
exactly, project diva has the commands flying in every direction >_>
As a Project Diva player I must say that this has potential to be Project Diva's sister game.
I hope the other 15% includes a free-roaming high school mode, where you can explorer the various locations of K-ON (eg. classrooms, etc). Or at least a free-roam band room. Even if that sounds a bit "WTF-ish", I think it would be good - you know, Sega could make it that after performances you could get "feedback" from other students and what you need to improve on.
Just my two cents. I'll be getting the game when it's out, though - it'll squish my K-ON craving.
AWESOME. THANK YOU KAMI-SAMA! 8D
I love rhythm games! :3
AZUNYAN I DO!!!
Copypasta engine is copypasta.
wait... how many songs is there going to be?
i can only imagine they add all the ED/OP, image songs to make a decent song count.
Cagayake
Don't say lazy
Fuwafuwa
Fudepen Borupen
Hotchkiss
CurryNochi
Maddy Candy & Hell the World
Image songs (2 per character, 7 characters) 14
GoGoManiac
Listen
PurepureHeart
Even then that's still 25...
better be a lot of costumes/story mode/individual instruments/etc.
They can always include the b-sides from the OP/ED singles and others.
Tsubasa wo Kudasai
Let's Go!!
Happy!?Sorry!!
Sweet Bitter Beauty Song
Genius...!?
Our MAGIC
Sakuragaoka Joshikou Tou Kakkou Kouka [Rock Ver.]
And for songs like Hotchkiss or Fude Pen, there can be versions with Yui vocals and Mio vocals.
Adding up the songs now (discounting different versions of the same songs), that's 32 songs, which is the amount that the first Project Diva has IIRC.
Maybe it has REALOVE:REALIFE. One can only hope...
hell yeah 4 girls time for orgy
it's 5 actually
Lay off the math please... We're in the internet...
I just got lazy when I was counting.. I mean counting to 3 was straining.
Oh comeon, how many fingers do you have? 4?
Well, the internet is 1s and 0s, so math is technically a requirement to function.
Yay, something else to burn my money on. I need a PSP first, though.
wow and it will feature a whoping TWO songs that we were hearing in the series.
excited.
Precisely!
While Miku & Co. have an 'nicovideo'-worth of songs, how many does K-ON! have? Should be less than 15, even including character songs?
thank you SEGA.
Wohoo I guess the same as Hatsune Miku
They should have an option to choose which character will say "SEEEEEEEEGAAAAAAAAAA" for the intro or something.
lol YES!
Way to copy Project Diva... at least i like Hatsune Miku more but this looks like it will be enjoyable even if i dislike k-on.
It can't be a copy if it's made by the people who made Project Diva. Wait for gameplay videos first before judging it to be a complete copy.
@An Otaku's Opiate
and you act like the world thinks as you do, sir
>>Anon @ 00:47
You act like K-ON, quite possibly the most prominent symptom of the disease wracking the anime and otaku fandom today, doesn't deserve to be bashed.
People bash the game under pretext that it's a Project Diva ripoff, of course we all know they bash it because it's a K-ON game.
Haters gonna hate, etc.
As if the opinion of anyone who eagerly and enthusiastically consumes this drivel of a franchise could ever be considered legitimate...
It's not like Project Diva didn't copy DJ max, or games like that. The only differences is how the notes are laid out.
Eeeeeeeeeeeh? You don't like K-ON?
K-ON sucks.
Game looked kinda same though.... Hope the songs gonna be great.
yeah , it is a shovelware
I wonder if some one will crack it so Azusa can dance like Miku. Or combine the game so the direction keys will control the k-on band in the back and the other buttons will make Miku dance in the forefront.
A danmaku rhythm game.
I'll just listen to songs on my iPod while I play REAL games.
lol--it kinda is about drinking tea and eating cake (inside joke from anime). But yea~it's about music, kind of...It's not a long series give it a try.
I hope the next version of the game will be like 'adventure type' or a 'dating-sim type'..
Well, maybe now it'll be more about the music...
Wait a second, K-ON was about music?
I thought it was about drinking tea and eating cake?
shameless ripoff if you ask me
No one asked you though.
its a ripoff if you dont have a hacked psp,:p
Hatsune Miku diva project might be one of those games that spawn countless followers using the same idea, similar what happened to Doom, Mario (yeah I know wolfenstein was first, but you get the idea.)
Yeah because Project Diva was the first rhythm game right?
it was dance dance evolutions then taikon no tatsujin then DJ Max then Diva project then this...
You guys do realize it's made by SEGA too don't you? Can't exactly rip off yourself. . . it appears SEGA might just crank these rhythm games out Guitar Hero style (identical but based around a single theme EX. Metallica, Aerosmith etc.) I wonder what they would do next?
Its the limit of music inclined console games with 4 buttons to bash at, so this is to be expected.
Unless you're looking for a karaoke-voice input game, please move on.
Shameless ripoff of what? Parappa the Rapper?
Project Diva didn't invent anything. And who cares if the mechanics are the same, they're VIDEOGAMES ffs, they're supposed to rip off each other.
How imaginative.
That's silly.
You can tell that the rhythm organization is already much more similar to games like DDR than Diva Project.
Rather than have the buttons assigned to be pressed appear arbitrarily on the screen (with only the buttons spaced from one another roughly equal to the pause between each note), it is displayed linearly along a track towards specific parts. Additionally, Project Diva never featured held down buttons (it's all single tap).
So it's more like a meld of Project Diva's cinematic qualities with DDR-style gameplay.
Project Diva 2nd already has long notes
Rhythm games have been around for ages.
