Sega’s weird PS3-based DLC addon for Project Diva, Dreamy Theater, has been priced, dated, and, more interestingly, proper sequel Project Diva 2nd has had its spectacular intro made public:
Player 1
Pre-orders opened some time ago.
Meanwhile, Dreamy Theater has been confirmed as a PlayStation Store only title selling for ¥3,000, releasing on the 24th of June, and in true Sega style requires a PSP and a copy of Project Diva to run, neatly eviscerating its sales potential.

Every time I see an amp being turned up I think of Spinal Tap.
"Yeah but... it goes up to 11!"
i cant seem to go to fullscreen for this vid
I'd watch Miku over K-On! any day
That is exactly the type of animation I expect when CG meets Anime meets console systems!! Perfect
OMG OMG OMG!!! WANT THIS BADLY!! lol
only sale in jp PS store ......
wait what's vocaloid?
Youtube.
Absolutely stunning CG.
I have to say that the song is not Supercell's best song. Ryo is usually pretty good with Miku, but this one is only average at best.
The OP for Project Diva 2nd is quite nice though uncanny valley put aside. It's like a preview of a vocaloid anime series.
I am so want to buy this game. ATM i have Hatsune Miku Project Diva Game and PSP 1000 does that qualify me to play this game on PS3?
(Well thinking of buying the new PSP Hatsune Miku version is it good decision?)
That transformation...
So Vocaloids are magical schoolkids now?
damn those are some NICE shaders
oyi, I am surprised the song was by Supercell, because it didn't sound polished at all... very ear jarring to listen to. There was no power in the voice at all...
the combination of the character design and the rendering style is amazing.
miku's gem eyes really make an impression...
Wow, Dreamy Theater is dreamy indeed.
I'm still feeling skeptical of the dreamy quality projected on the PS3 being purely data re-rendering from the PSP, but I'm not one to complain of the new look Miku and co.
they could make the graphics a little better
this totally should have been somesort of crossover between dream theater and miku. i mean metropolis pt 2 is basically a play, with miku singing James labrie lyrics
hatsune miku Pt.2: scenes from a memory
If I actually had a PS3, I'd buy this just to see the Magician costume. You know, the one you get from Miracle Painting. I love that costume.
I only like Rolling Girl.
DLC is really getting out of hand. I think Sega may be asking too much of a potential buyer to have a PSP and a copy of Project Diva.
Hmm HAtsune Miku has become such a crazy trend i wonder when wil they make her anime?
She already have her manga at this moment.
I'm listening to Miku for hours each day and she's currently all I listen to. My GF is starting to have doubts about my manliness.
"Sigh"...I love this game...and now that Luka has songs in it...I love it MORE!.
I love Miku!
Looks nice. Too bad I probably won't be playing it myself since I don't have a ps3. I'll just stick w/ the good'ol basic project diva for now.
Wow you fags get excited about some dumb shit
Fuck you too.
I still prefer the psp version though....
I guess I better buy a JP PSN card ahead and then play the waiting game..
You know that you can make a japanese PSN account on any PS3 don't you? . . .
I'm aware of it, however you can't use US credit card to buy games from the Japanese Playstation Store. So my only resort is buying a JP PSN card online.
I am going to have to buy the game.
First I thought it was a crossover between Dream Theater and Miku.
I am dissapoint.
Third.
Same here, anon.
scenes of a miku, part one
time to buy a ps3...
Righteous...Such a short and sweet intro...
*sigh*
I wish they would release that here...
Hmmm.... The video doesn't really impressed me. The song doesn't really impressed me either. Oh man.... CG looks nice though.
ooooh pretty graphics
Luka is their sensei. Though I want to see Luka in a seifuku too xD
oh.. tako luka is there too! xD
Yep. Takoluka is now an ascended meme!
Isn't that the OP of Project Diva 2?
And the release date of Dreamy Theater is the 24th of June.
Fixed - thought we had two videos for some reason.
Luka is so cute and pretty <3
If this were a series, it might sell better than K-On! ..
In same time, you can easily transpose K-on to DT's characters.
Miku looks like Mio, Len as Ritsu, Rin as Yui and finally Luka to Tsumugi.
Misses Azu-nyan...
Luka to Himeko ... dammit !
love the trailer already
"Miku in seifuku"
*nosebleeds*
i want Miku to shite ageru my PS3
You want Miku to shit? I have some bad new for you
Pi Pa Pa Paro Po
You obviously don't know about Miku and her songs.
Being oblivious to such popular virtual song titles is bad news. >_>
Wow, that looks really good Oo...
Oh shit! It's Vocal-ON! Moe-blob has invaded consoles!
The trailer looks really good.
I can't help but feel that this is looks abit like that other musical club anime thats in its 2nd season.
I can't help to think of that c..p too, but Project Diva is more about songs than a bunch of cackling gooses idling and gobbling sweets in the clubroom
Shit's too high pitched.
>too high pitched
>Miku
Gtfo, Noodlestein.
What I wouldn't give for graphics and animation of that quality in real time. Yes, I know they are poor by CG standards, but still.
Miku higher pitched than Rin. Hmm...
Nothings too high for miku.. she doesn't even need to breath while singing..
I don't get the hate about the way they sound.
To me, it only felt robotic in the beginning. As I heard more and more songs, it kinda made its way to my ear, and by now they all sound natural. Not human-like, but they sound like it's their own voice. So it's just like feeling the wavelength of their voices... just got used to it, and I love it <3 (and them)
"I've never noticed any Miku songs that made use of breathing sounds at all"
You've never listened to supercell? If you listen carefully, many of those songs feature breathing sounds.
Though she has the option to. Vocaloid users who know that generally produce quite breath-taking results.
Examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UH0RsmiIws&fmt=18 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UH0RsmiIws&fmt=18]
(This is Meiko, but Vocaloid 2 DOES have this capability also)
I've never noticed any Miku songs that made use of breathing sounds at all, but imagine this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVaGMhMlWko&fmt=18 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVaGMhMlWko&fmt=18]
+ breathing sounds in the right places, and you get the idea.
BTW, I highly recommend checking out Namonaki's other works. He is one of the best Meiko users out there, his lyrics and PVs are full of sexual tension, and together with his enormous talent as a music composer and general mastery of the Vocaloid software, it makes for some amazing listening (and viewing) experience.
Why do you assume when he says Shit that he means Miku ... ??
May he does. Or may he speaks about the microfost windaws speaking system.
you are clearly pitch deaf if you say that, go back and listen to your Justin Bieber
because all the voice engines are essentially the same with minor variations in range to better personify each character, pick on one of them you pick on them all... in which case... gtfo >.>
if i could buy this on the NA psn i'd consider buying a ps3, other than that, don't really have any games i want to play on consoles, i'm perfectly happy with my I7 980
because she is?
@CoreFlood -c'mon you can't compare Miku and Luka with Rin/Len (or Kaito).
Oh shit, I pushed someones buttons.
Just to say I've heard plenty of Miku songs that are just fine but something about that song just hit me wrong.
Miku is serious business!ಠ_ಠ
Dude... you're trolling, right? The Miku here doesn't sound high-pitched at all. Well... except for her yells.
Leave it to ryo to demonstrate how to show off Miku!
Luka was the best part of the vid and Hachune FTW.
If it wouldn't look like K-ON it would be much better.
Len is just creepy = uncanny valley :(
Len is AWESOME even if uncanny valley, shit I'm gonna buy this because of him.
YES! absolutely right.. i like Luka so much better than miku since the first time i saw her, even before I had hear her voice.. her "hoshikuzu utopia" is my favorite vocaloid song until now..
Oh yeah, @00:23 you can see Luka in front of Tokyo Daigaku like building, which is the most prestigious university in Japan..
I actually felt an urge to buy it because they made it look like k-on lol yes i'm sad but combining Miku and K-On might just make me buy it even if it is in japanese lol
Yeah I was thinking of this too....every thing looks nice, but since they're mocapped, their movements look unnatural for what they are - stylized anime characters. Thus their animation should be stylized too, like that nendoroid-sized Miku.
I think the best example of it is around the 30s mark, when you see them playing guitar. I noticed this example recently in Angel beats too, during a concert scene; it looked like they rotoscoped or closely referenced a real life source, and so their performance has a fluidity of animation that is out of place with the rest of the show.
Too fluid ?, weird. like saying it looks to perfect or to real. That in it self sounds odd. fictional or not. they ( the better ones ) turn into almost real friends ( so to speak ) . study some of the work outside, they are making in prosthetics and helping the children and handicapped interact with the real world. similar technology and idea. they are easier to bond with and like. that what really tends to drive sells in most any market. your buying the image. but enough psychobable. those who get it will, those won't/can't never will. there loss.
se la vie.
btw. Miku, Luka, Teto are my fav girl's. not always in that order. lol.
Kinda agree with the first paragraph, but the second, not so much.
Yes it was most likely rotoscoping, and it looked completely awesome on too many levels to count here.
If they could, anime producers would give the animation this kind of fluidity all the way from start to end, but budget restraints force them to pick out key scenes like the concerts in Angel Beats. It doesn't look out of place at all, it just shows what anime could look like if the production studios had infinite resources.
There are a few anime movie productions that have this fluidity throughout their whole running length, and I have yet to hear complaints from anyone that the animation is "too fluid".
^ I was about to post clips from various movies, OVAs and even a few TV series with sequences of full, realistic 24fps motion (including Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Wings of Honneamise, the Evangelion movies, Gunbuster, Samurai Champloo and many many more) to prove you wrong, but thinking about it again, why even bother. It's your loss for thinking that.
Yes, I noticed it too: when a 2D animation is too fluid it looks strange - it's probably the effect the uncanny valley -> the movements are too realistic but the characters are 2D-not real = looks strange
PS: @Anon21:45 nendoroid-sized Miku -> it's Hachune
Unplugged Fenders are unplugged.
wireless amp system?
You still have to plug in a sender in the output jack of the guitar. Plugging doesn't mean wires only.
Correct.
I said unplugged, not unwired.
D:D:wants
Still can't believe Sega's stupid enough to pass up the obvious decision to just make this a standalone disc release. Oh wait, yes I can.
K-ON x Vocaloids?
BRB going to steal some PS3..
Uncanny valley much? They just look kinda creepy.
And they seriously went ahead with the whole link up crap. They should yank the licence from sega and hand it to someone capable like Konami.
I mean they could make Vocaloid DDR or Miku Gear Solid as DLC for peacewalker...
holy. awesome. i will definitely get it when it's out for sale.
This intro is actually for Project DIVA 2nd, the sequel to the original Project Diva. And it's still gonna be on the PSP.
So you gotta buy a psp and the project diva game before you can play this? WTF MAN.
no, you have to buy even the PS3 version for 30 bugs :)
If it would be for free then OK, but PSP + Project Diva + PS3 + Dreamy Theater ... Sega - the marketing genius
あら。。。超すごいですね。。。
Vocaloid is the new world style.
Never underestimate the power of Techno Queen Miku.
See you again on PS3 your highness lol~
