Most animals (birds being a notable exception) hate to eat spicy food. What we consider nice and spicy, really burns them. I think the cat is attracted to the herbs in the smell above anything, it can also probably smell that having an actual taste would be a bad idea.
Furthermore, eating human food tends to be bad for pets. For starters, we are incredible energy burners for some reason. If you thought the human obesity epidemic is bad, go see some animals who have been brought up with our food. Like blubber with legs.
Then there is the problem that humans have a much higher tolerance for variations in for example food salinity. Cats can get kidney trouble from human food, or so I've been told by a vet.
