Btw, looks has little to do with marriage...Lot's of times pretty gals are rather seen as romances and men think less attractive women are the better wives and mothers...Espeially if the man has himself a low amount of confidence, having a beautiful wife would make him feel stressed...
A 'simple woman' is much more seen as a good choice for marriage than a more outgoing one...
Though that's just my opinion and experience...

When I was a kid (I live in the U.S.), a friend of mine's mom died. His father was looking for a replacement wife (for the good of the kids), and found someone who acted nice.
The woman's own family tried warning the father away, but the father didn't listen, married her, and she immediately reverted to her Wicked-Witch-Personality.
The unfortunate man goes outside and chops wood in the middle of winter, just to get away from her.
You can't blame the woman then. If the woman's family warned that she wasn't worth it and he still married her, then the man is a idiot.
