The denizens of 2ch share their love for animals with a spontaneous outburst of “suzume” images, suzume referring to the Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Passer Montanus, particularly its Japanese variation.
"Chairman Mao Zedong of China attempted in April 1958 to reduce crop damage by Tree Sparrows, estimated at 4.5 kg (9.9 lb) of grain per bird each year, by mobilising three million people and many scarecrows to drive the birds to death by exhaustion. Although initially successful, the "great sparrow campaign" had overlooked the numbers of locusts and other insect pests consumed by the birds, and crop yields fell, exacerbating a famine which led to the deaths of 30 million people between 1959 and 1961."
Let's see now... 300,000 people died during the so-called "Nanking Massacre" vs. the deaths of 30,000,000 people as the result of Chairman Mao's most glorious campaign to kill sparrows. LOL.
...and yet the Chinese have still the wet dream to suck Chairman Mao's already-embalmed cock lol.
They had inflicted more shit to themselves than the invading Japanese, yet they don't want to condemn how Chairman Mao fucked up the entire country and they rather put more blame to the Japanese.
Why the bird is in there^^"
I love them since I lived in Tsing Yi (Hong Kong)
There is a port nearby and many of them live there (in empty tubes)
BTW when you say creepy, do you mean they are so moe to make you feel creepy?
#43: There can only be one master of this arena...
Though I think these birds are cute, I personally prefer crows. Then again, I guess it's because they like hanging out in my backyard, where I throw them some table or kitchen scraps.
But back to, too bad there's no good images for a Suzume Panch joke.
Sparrows are pretty amazing at fitting through tight spaces. I used to work at a publishing firm in an old, old building where sparrows were roosting inside gargoyles. The gargoyles had two hollow eyes no bigger than the hole you can make with your thumb and index finger, and apparently the heads of these statues were hollow enough for the sparrows to make them their haunts.
I doubt sparrows are stupid enough to go flying down manholes and get themselves stuck trying to fly out. It's probably a photoshop.
I'll believe it for humans, though. Their stupidity level knows no limit. There's a news article on some guy who got killed when he went cave exploring in Utah sometime in Nov 2009 . He got stuck in some hole.
Well to people prefering the "asian" cosplay, have you ever been to a convention there or at least saw some unedited pictures from a convention.... More

I've always said Mao is the worst thing ever to happen to modern China.
...and yet the Chinese have still the wet dream to suck Chairman Mao's already-embalmed cock lol.

These are creepy...
roast it
A-HOLE
We've got a lot of those in the yard...
To think of it, I never knew what it's called locally or in English... So I think I'll just call it suzume...
I think they're basically called House Sparrows.
But suzume works too.
LOL island mexican/pango/japanese wannabe who doesn't know the pangonese/island mexican language term for that bird.
Oh wait, I think it's called "maya".
and I see kids shooting bbs at them for fun :(
calling them suzume rather than maya sounds better, I think.
Maya is also the term used for birds like that in the Philippines, lol I didn't know they were that loved in japan though.
i'll call them suzume if i am in Japan, but maya if i am still in the philippines because i expect many locals don't know what the fuck 'suzume' is
funny... I see them a lot and don't know how they are called in my language... I guess I'll go with suzume...
Since he lives in his parents basement and thinks "the earth" is a slang for internet and geography is a sci-fi novel.
thats for the Philippines
You idiot, since when are mexicans eurasian?
Last picture = WIN

If only statues could talk. Birds make there life miserable.
I doubt sparrows are stupid enough to go flying down manholes and get themselves stuck trying to fly out. It's probably a photoshop.

He ain't stuck, he is just roosting in it.
Damn, they are cute.
It's not a photoshop, but real one from The official site of Setagaya City, Tokyo.
