Bakemonogatari feels so unfinished that it seems Shaft purposely withheld stuff to push dvd sales.
It's funny seeing fanboys claiming photography stills and other cheap production tricks to lower costs in the anime as "artistic", then praising Shaft when those scenes are animated in the dvd.
Some idiots really were too ignorant to be aware that Shaft was lacking of manpower that time, not being lazy like Xebec and some other production..
That's the producer's problem and it is his job to properly budget manpower, time and money to make sure things get done. What else is he there for, sit there and look pretty?
Maybe blind fanboys will praise any unfinished crap their favorite anime producers will throw at them. Maybe the gay fanboys actually enjoy being shafted. Oh yes, Shaft, harder!

Finally, this was by far the worse fucking episode I'd ever seen, and this is even including the other half finished episodes.
There must have been around 9 minutes of fragmented footage in this episode, the rest being black screen.

It's pretty hard when you're short on staff and have a tight schedule. Still, episode 10 was pretty horrible on SHAFT's part and hopefully we won't get an episode like that again.
Given the nature of the scene did you never consider the fact that it simply was not appropriate for TV or perhaps that they were afraid it would be censored anyway?
Also there is a lot of movement just in that last gif alone. The problem with animating something like said invisible snake is not the snake itself but the result it has on Nadeko.
So "movement" is some sort of debilitating hardship in making anime is it?
Other companies must be employing genies or something since this whole "making stuff move" thing is so mystical and far out.

Me too. A lot of scenes were nicer in the TV version, from previous episodes too. It seems to me like SHAFT is encouraging the illegal download of TV-rips, because if people liked the TV version more, that's pretty much their only choice. Let's wait and see who gets shafted in the long run.
I have to agree that for the most part I prefer the TV version. I'm sure that when watching the episode though it will be much better from Blu-Ray simply because no scenes are simply missing.
I'm just happy SHAFT bothers to fix their mistakes for the Blu-Ray releases unlike studios like DEEN. Bah.

I was surprised at how much re-working was included, the bookstore scene seemed almost totally new, it was nice that they added more detail to Tsubasa's features.

Sheeesh, anime "fans" these days really love to complain, complain, and complain... and complain... and keep on complaining again. Why not just look at the bright side; at least Shaft made both the TV and DVD versions worth watching twice. Surprised and disappointed that some of the shots in the TVare better than the DVD's? Okay, fine but if you still want to go "OMG, Shaft is so stupid and lazy!!", why don't you guys at least lift your lazy bum up, load your video editing program and reassemble the segments of the TV and DVD versions altogether by yourself?

Almost every shot in the revised version is alternately either darker, oversaturated, washed out or simplified in an attempt to make it overstylised. Like, what the hell?!
