Namco: “No Perfect Tales of Vesperia Overseas!”

judith-tales-of-vesperia-sexy-bikini.jpg

Namco Bandai has consigned international fans of Tales of Vesperia to eternal beta tester status, saying it has no intention of releasing the PS3 version of the game in the US (and presumably in less important places too).

With the admittedly utterly staid and unoriginal Tales series performing unimpressively in its localised versions, it is not a huge surprise to see Namco saying it has “no plans” to release the game in the US.

Fans of Patty Fleur are sure to be disappointed; the Japanese version is however available now.

This does not surprise me at all. When I first heard news of the "perfect" version of ToV on the PS3, I knew we wouldn't be getting it. Namco Bandai is exceedingly predictable when it comes to the western market.

Needless to say, this news doesn't really surprise me, but it does disappoint me.

    Fuck this, seriously, fuck this.
I am not big into games and have little time to play but I love this style of games and when Vesperia came out I had planned to buy it.
    "eventually"
then the PS3 version gets announced, with a loli, and I though hey I better wait for that one then and get it for my PS3
    I waited.
    And now this.
Namco Bandai is an asshole, I know its all business but this would still be a profitable port over here and this is not a way to treat consumers if they want people to remain loyal to the brand.

With Symphonia was the same...the Game Cube received an english localization...but the PS2 didn't...looks like this Namco bitches have a grudge against Playstation users overseas.

So much for an english PS3 "Perfect" version of Tales of Graces too.

Now I will only play this shit in moonspeak ONLY if the PS3 is hacked and the game is a "backup".

You know, the whole reason I got a 360 was so I could play Vesperia. I absolutely love the Tales series. Now that I learn a more complete version is available only in Japanese for the PS3, it's pretty disappointing.

Yes, we still have the 360 version, but I don't think I can play it with as much enthusiasm I had before knowing how there's a better version out there. And my Japanese is abysmal (I should fix that). Siiiigh. Oh well.

Why would they need "beta testers" for a game that is essentially without any stopper bugs?

You guys at Sankaku don't know anything about software development. ToV Xbox is not a beta, it's a "revision 1.0".

Namco as usual. Ever since they merged with bandai they have even been halting localizations of bandai franchises. Like Mobile Ops: The One Year War, the day it had a successful release in japan they cancelled the western release, despite the japanese release already being entirely in english and exclusive to the xbox360.

October 2008: The game is released in North America.

Do not believe anything Namco Bandai says at the moment, they never stay true to what they decide in the end. We will probably see the game out in a few months.

    Comment by Anonymous
    03:51 31/01/2010 # ! Neutral (0)

My guess is the issue of it maybe having to do with announcing anything too soon while they are still selling new copies of the game in Japan (remember the game is only 4-5 months old) & don't want to gouge their own sales. In fact, amazon is still selling the game new for the 360 right now for $29.99. So if there is to be any good news for a port, it would have to be significantly later in the year.

Other thing could be that Microsoft had paid for a not timed exclusive in this case & thus (similar to the case of Nintendo about symphonia) they are just unable to reuse any of the resources they put into the game already & re-release it here.

It could also be the case of SCEA being a bunch of dicks.

It could be that there has been no case of any tales remakes ever being released here in North America (don't quote me on this since I don't remember off the top of my head).

It could be a lot of things but is most likely business related. (See the case of Agarest not seeing a blu-ray release in NA)

Pick your poison, but it doesn't change the fact that at this current time, there is no official news of plans to release

actually we did get one remake only cuz we didn't get the original, the Tales of Phantasia for the GBA was released in the states but again, we didn't get any previous versions of it before that. I'm still wondering if we're going to get VS. and RM2

yeah but think about it, they never released a single tales remake game (With the exception of the GBA Phantasia but then again we never got any previous versions and in Europe the PSP Eternia but that's cuz they didn't get it as Destiny 2 like we did which PREVENTED Releasing Destiny 2 in the states nor did they get it AS Eternia prior to that) internationally

1)Namco-Bandai retained the VAs for Tales of Vesperia about 2-3 months ago, it could have been a coincidence I suppose.
2)YOU NEVER EVER say a better version of something you currently have on the market is coming out or you annihilate all sales. They could easily have an NDA of some sort with Microsoft that doesn't allow them to advertise it or something. Or maybe they just don't want to upset MS. Who knows.

The big reason why they couldn't bring PS2 Symphonia here was because Nintendo funded the localization, they would have had to start from scratch.

On the other hand, I wasn't expecting anything from Namco. They disappointed me so many times that I don't pay attention to their games till they're officially announced for localization.

They keep doing this over and over again. What don't they like about practically free money since all they would have to do is use the already existing translation and translate what little new dialog there is if any and release it.

PS. They did the same thing with Tales of Symphonia for the PS2.

Minus Atlus. I haven't seen anything disappointing when they localize games. So I'm happy for that. But otherwise yeah. Huge dissapointment with Bamco.

It would be nice to see the PS3 version come over but since it's not, this just means I should just study the language more so I don't have to worry about localizations -.-

And Game Freak doesn't has such attitudes either. The main Pokémon games haven't been significantly crippled in the localizations, with the exception of Crystal, which made the Japanese lucky because by connecting their GBCs to their cell phones, they could do pretty much what every Pokémon player around the world does now over Wi-Fi in the DS games.

No kidding. Their sales may be better over here if they would stop screwing all their customers over by releasing complete versions of their games a literal year after the original title. I always liked the Tales series, but I completely stopped caring because of this. There is no reason to keep buying BN games when they first release anymore. And now, its apparently not worth it ever.
