lolicon/lolicom refers to "lolita complex" and typically refers to men (or women) who like girls under the age of 18 and with a flat chest.
Not a direct definition, but one that's passable, regardless.

Personally, I feel it's fine to like girls/boys that young if you are close in age.
After all, it's natural to look at people like that when they're similar to you, and if they're just a bit smaller or younger, it's more of a natural preference thing than a mental problem.
But if you're 30+ and you're looking at girls under 15 with a dangerous sexual impulse, you should at least critique yourself and try to consult someone as to why you feel that way.
Some people like younger children mainly because they're innocent and pure, and they're not going to throw surprising fetishes upon you, so you can have casual fun, too.

Besides, some people just like "cute" things, while adults usually have to act the part out and it's only natural for children to actually be "cute."

@obro: Although there are "insane" pedos out there the pathology for pedophilia, clinically speaking, is nothing more than an attraction to pre-pubescent children. It doesn't infer anything else. In other words, just because you are a pedophile doesn't mean that you force yourself on children or are some kind of child molester or child serial rapist. It only means that you have an attraction to children. Think of it like this: If you are a male heterosexual does that mean that you are a serial rapist and that you go around forcing yourself on women? Same thing with male homosexuals. Just because they are attracted to men doesn't mean that they are looking to force themselves on other males.
Of course, if you do happen to have violent pathologies on top of the pedophilia pathology, then that's a pretty bad combination...

Wrong. The Age of Consent in the US varies from state to state. In at least half the states, the legal age is 16, and no not just in southern states :P Also, in the state of Hawaii, the AoC is 16, however, someone aged 14 and 15 can consent to sex with someone less than 5 years older than them. In other words, 18 year olds can have sex with 14 year olds and 19 year olds can have sex with 15 year olds.

If you're 15 and she's 13 in some certain places that is grounds to brand you a pedophile. However as you are both minor your record would be locked up, unless there's some clause that say the perpetrator will be judged as an adult.

If she's 16 and you're 14, chances are low they'll arrest her, but if they do then they'll throw you in as well for endangering yourself. (Unsubstantiated thought)

I've gone with an 8 years younger girl in the past (she was just 18 though).

Problem is that young girls are typically dramatic, silly, and inexperienced. Better to go with say 23 to 30. Women still look great then, and know what they want and how to 'give it'. You get much more out of it.

Not necessarily. Paraphilias are generally categorized into three levels of severity, a first-level pedophile wouldn't generally meet the definition of mental illness.

Three years is in the gray area when your 18 and your girlfriend is 15. Depending on where you live it might be considered Child Molestation and you could be arrested for Statutory Rape for any sexual acts. In many places a 2 year difference is considered safe/legal, but a greater difference is not. It would be good for you to learn the legal language in your area since you might not be in the safe zone.
