LIES! I am Australian and this is just the latest in a string of democratic rights going to hell in this country.
First we have Michael Atkinson being the solitary person preventing an R18+ rating system for the gaming industry, thus inducing heavy censorship on a significant proportion of games which are hacked down to MA15+, which allows teens to get their hands on them when R18+ wouldn’t and allow adults proper rights. Not that Michael Atkinson has the brains to comprehend that since he is in the electorate of Croydon, which is about as conservative and old-fashioned as you can get in South Australia. Not to mention him trying to sue the members of the Cheltenham area for speaking out of him allowing the council there to turn a protected recreational area into residential apartments. Or the fact it’s fairly implicated that he and other senior members of parliament are protected ‘The Family’, a secret pedophile society which existed since the days of Don Dunstan and seems to mysteriously protect bastards like him, Peter Liddie. Yet they cause brave souls like Peter Lewis, who have the balls to speak of for what’s right, democratic and true, to have to resign. Damn you to the ninth circle of hell, Michael Atkinson!
Then we have the new leader of the Opposition at a National level – Tony Abbott. Who so far has said:
1. Abortion should be illegal in Australia.
2. Women should not have sex before marriage and that it should be made to be so.
3. Contraception is wrong.
4. That Catholics are the most well-informed people of all.
THIS is the person who is leading the Opposition! Hell, Australian women generally hate his guts! The deputy leader of the ruling government told him to get bent yesterday for telling women how to live. And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is one of MANY reasons why we will NOT allow them back in power as they were for 1995-2007. During which they also introduced laws (Workplace) which allowed all employers to fire ANY employee without ANY need or reason to justify it. Trust me, the current government is far better than Tony Abbott, Malcolm Turnbull and the other bigoted scumbags in the Liberal Party! Damn you, Tony Abbott. And damn you, John Howard, for utterly raping this country for the 12 years you were in power! During which he made TV programs about sex illegal. [unless they were medically related...what's the difference? A naked body is a naked body!](despite the fact that well-behaved, educational shows like Sex/Life were the highest rating shows on TV at the time and generating positive behaviour and views on sex as a result.)
And NOW we have Barnaby Joyce! The average cup size for an Australian woman is B. A generation ago, it was an A-cup! Considering fashion and society in general is being pressured to promote REALISTIC/HEALTHY bodies that are common, of which A-cups are a significant part of that – Barnaby Joyce, you idiot. You were once the maverick of the country as an independent and actually did a bit of good. But now, months after being converted to the Liberal Party, you have lost your balls completely and become a complete traitor. Congratulations on setting back women’s rights, democracy and freedoms back about 50-100 years. So now realistic bodies are wrong. So now models with A-cup bodies must now be banished to oblviion and forced to get implants?! At this rate, you just might leapfrog Michael Atkinson as the most hated politician in this country, you utter fool. Yes, I get you’re trying to prevent pedophilia on some level. But how is censoring ADULT bodies going to achieve that?! Why are you making all people suffer due to a small proportion of evil pricks, some of which are protected by hypocritical scumbags like Michael Atkinson! Damn you to hell, Barnaby Joyce.
And as for the ruling Labour Party, they wish to introduce the internet filter which will block a multitude of sites, including this, Danbooru, any adult site, etc. Essentially turning this country into a living version of the 1984 nightmare outlined by George Orwell. Kevin Rudd, you’ve managed to do a lot of good things in your time as Prime Minister (undoing Workplace, reconciliation, negating the global recession, trying to induce climate change plans, contemplating an R18+ rating for the gaming industry) and you’re a rightside better than that bigot John Howard was, but this one is just wrong. Senator Conroy should NOT be the only person in Australia who gets to decide what is right and wrong for this country when it comes to the internet! That’s pretty much dictatorship standards when one person is deciding what is right for all.
So, since some people asked why we don’t change government, this is why:
Independents like Barnaby Joyce are the ones that started this push
Labour is voting in the laws, including people like Michael Atkinson, who enforce even more draconian laws and protect the scum they claim to be safeguarding people from
Liberals like Tony Abbott are a million times more bigoted than Labour ever could be.
So Labour is the best option. Unfortunately, it’s a lose-lose situation no matter who’s in control. -_-
All I can say is – Australia, take back your rights before it’s too late. We are no longer young and free, since it’s now a crime to be so. We must prevent this country from turning into the totalitarian nightmares George Orwell, Ray Bradbury and Aldous Huxley predicted the world to be heading in. There is still plenty that is good in Australia and I love this country. But it kills me on the inside when inhumane laws like this are being enforced. It reminds me that Australia doesn’t have a Bill of Rights in its constitution. Hmmm…
