“The Internet is making people stupid.”

No, the government is training children to not think critically, via the schools.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re using the old-fashioned card catalog or a search engine to collect your research materials, you still have to evaluate the quality of the author and their material.

If I were a teacher, I’d notify the class in advance that I’d grade down their research papers if they used Wikipedia as a reference, or used *only* Google to search for materials.

There’s little effective difference between “www.BlackHelicoptersCauseCancer.com” and those little ads in the back of magazines selling copper bracelets as a rheumatism cure.

Just because Google doesn’t find a web page doesn’t mean that page doesn’t exist. This is true of all search engines.

Primary schools don’t require this basic rigor of thought and process. Critical thinking is not taught as a course there.

The Internet doesn’t *make* people stupid, but it assists them in being so, if that’s how they are.

“Google -> Wikipedia -> The Whole Truth” …. durrrr.
