“Lately, More Women are Collecting Figures”

Hmh, nothing new here, there are probably more female collectors on tsukiboard, than male ones...

Women collect as much figures as guys. You just don't know because you've never been invited into their rooms and never will!

I don't understand why people are shocked by this.

Women aren't a different species, they're humans like men are, but are influenced to like different things in general.

I'm a Mass Effect-playing anime and manga fan that has a whole desk of figures in my room. I think I'm not afraid to persue what I love, namely gaming and manga, because my parents always encouraged whatever I liked, as did my friends.

People make the mistake of thinking that all women are born loving the color pink and collect Barbie dolls and view video games as something that men should grow out of. There's tons of girls that love what guys love, but in general (there's exceptions) they tend to be more shy or feel shameful about their inner otaku or gamerfag, Or, if they're like me, usually disguise themselves under the guise of male characters on MMOs just to avoid the men messaging them with "HAY WANNA BE MY GF?" or stay under the anonymous tag on imageboards.

Don't mistake us for GAMER GURLS though, since those are terrible.

If a girl has a Mario or Pac-Man shirt, she's probably a fake...maybe you guys should stop going for the prettiest girl in the room (not saying you have to settle for ugly/fat, but just go for a normal girl instead of the airheaded bimbo) and then acting surprised when they don't share your interests.

TL;DR Stop thinking women are from Mars and men are from Venus and that you'll never find the girl for you.

Ahh, how refreshingly tasteful. Wish I found more figures like these instead of the sexualized garbage I find in stores.

My girlfriend's collection blows this away. She's been collecting since the late 90s, and the last time she counted, she had over 700 different figures. Plus a large number of plushies, posters, and wall scrolls.

I'm a woman who collects figures. Though I've only started pretty recently but it's a worthy pursuit ;D There's a devoid of bishonen in their collection because there's not many bishonen figures out there =_=' Believe me whenever the rare male figure comes out the women buy them in droves. It's a little annoying because the male figures tend to sell out fast and if you haven't pre-ordered it's most likely there won't be a re-print of it.

I'll find this girl, and I'll marry her. Then, I'll take all those figures. HEHE XD

Fyi, bishounen =/= muscular or 0% body fat. Personally, as a female I consider both Kyon and Koizumi attractive and Koizumi especially IS considered a bishounen by many female fans. Besides, attractiveness doesn't only come from the body, but the character itself. But personally I, and many other people I know, prefer completely normal male bodies over lots of (or the lack of) muscle. It's nothing out of the ordinary. Neither is girls colleting figurines (I do so too).

me myself collect figures too, and i'd prefer the girls figures,eventhough the original ones are extremely expensive and rare in my country (so i don't buy much), and i'm not a lesbian.

it's not that surprising to me that it is a girl's room. and it is not devoid of bishonen at all, if you study closely enough i'm pretty sure you'll see a few males in there. what with the kind of media in japan, and girls (most of them) liking pretty things, i think it's pretty normal to like stuff like this- as a girl. If anything I think it's funnier if a man has so much girliness in his room, i know they're women, but look at this room from a non otaku perspective, appart from that gundam how manly does it look? what with their colourful outfits and doll like aesthetics. if they're not half naked or tits out it almost looks as if it was made for women.

Nendoroid's are pretty small and cute so it's understandable that there is a lot of pull to begin collecting these. gotta start small and work your way up to bigger things you know. that's how most girls i know begin collecting.

Of course we ladies collect figures! I mean, they're adorable! A lot of us collect toys, and dolls, and even lace cup holders for heaven's sake. There's nothing surprising about a girl wanting something pretty, and hot damn, a lot of these are pretty!

Ignoring that this is anime figures, and not just general figures, I'd like to point out also that girls may collect MORE figures, as even my grandmother has porcelain figures (In her case, depicting teddy bears) and my mom has a whole collection that varies from a life-sized cat to a tiny ballerina. I personally have several faeries, frogs, and gargoyles... Though I lack more than a very modest Anime figure collection, though not due to a lack of want.

Girls collecting figures is nothing to be surprised about... They're pretty and girly. We wouldn't be surprised at girls collecting Barbie dolls, so why not girly figures?

As for the lack of bishounen figures, that's because bishounen figures suck.

my room is starting to look more and more like those ones, i have... 20 figures, 3 figmas 12 revoltech 2 gundams, and 10 more figures are comming on the way ...

btw figures are more for show and collecting, and in a way to have a "piece" of that anime that you loved or well the character, they are also a kinda nice decoration

I'm a female, and I collect figurines. In fact, I know more WOMEN who collect than men! So I would agree that yes a lot of women are collecting these figurines. Not to say men collect more than women or vice-versa, but i do think it's a growing trend on both sides of the community.

I Collect Figurines of Moe Girls~ Cause they are cute. My Brother calls me an Geezer though ;;u;; but it's not like i'm collecting perverse ones i only collect the cute ones.
