A mother who found her son engaged in a late night gaming session felt she had no option but to call police on the boy, as he ignored her commands.
The Boston mother reportedly became exasperated at her 14-year-old son’s “gaming habit” and told him to play less, but matters came to a head when she awoke one night to find her son still playing Grand Theft Auto at 2:30AM despite being told to stop.
The mother then unplugged her son’s console and called police on him, who dutifully arrived and told him to “Chill out” and “Go to bed.”
The mother, a 49-year-old cafeteria worker raising three other children by herself, explained she only approved of healthy sports themed games and not ones teaching the basics of criminal entrepreneurship:
“I would never buy that kind of video. No way. I called because if you don’t respect your mother, what are you going to do in your life?”

If you simply called the police (and not 911 because it is for emergency calls only) you can ask them to do lots of stuff, and if they don't have any real cases at the time, they will probably do it.

Well, if she beat the sh-t out of him like he deserved, in AmeriKKKa she'd have been arrested and it would have guarunteed he'd go to some kind of state/foster home that'd likely let him play the games (to shut him up) and hang with 'Gangsta' kids, then once he reached a magical age dump him out on the street. I'm also proud to have raised a neighbor's loli into a fine JRPG lover. Whenever they came over for a visit she would insist I play videogames with her. Kids her age are incredibly sensitive to influences from people they trust, and the moment my PC and PS2 caught her eye out of sheer children's curiosity, it was determined she would become a girl gamer.

I think people should be required to undergo an easy psyche evaluation when they're expecting a child or children. If they fail this very lenient evaluation, then they should be checked up on randomly by child protective services. That way, children might have a chance of being saved from complete idiot parents.

That's completely untrue Lucky. In most countries, if you call 911 for something frivoulous, you can expect a bill for it in the mail. For example, stupid fisherman in Canada who get stranded on the ice as lakes thaw have to repay the cost of the helicopter used to rescue them (fuel, the time of the people who fly it etc). And that's if you DON'T get a criminal charge like the American "balloon boy" parents who used Emergency services for their own gain. There are locksmiths for locked doors, dozens of agencies for problem children etc. You may NOT use the police as a free replacement for any of them because you're too damn cheap to pay for what you want. What's more disturbing is your attitude that services like the police are at your disposal to rip off and cheat as you like. Do you have any sense of responsibility or decency? Check out how often real crimes happen and you'll see that one call from you to get a door unlocked would leave victims of those real crimes without help. I'd suggest you grow the hell up.
He's not talking about calling 911. Every police station has a secondary line for non-emergencies. Obviously calling 911 to open a locked door or to respond to a problem child is wrong.

Because in my family, there are 3 brothers and 1 sister including me, and all of us love to play. The only console game that we have is only a PS. It's quite hard for us to split the time for playing PS, especially me who love RPG(FF VII, FF VIII, FF IX, BOF4, SUIKODEN 1&2, etc). So sometimes I sneak in the middle of the night to play PS.

the lady is probably frustrated with her place in life or maybe her job. it's normal to lash out at others for no good reason. i've done it and so has everyone else. she probably gets no respect at work from co-workers or students. she probably rationalizes that she deserves respect at her home.
this situation was probably just the light for her fuse to go off.

Yeah but, she's a mother. Parents do have a responsibility to raise their kids, or just dump 'em in a dumpster. Whichever is easier.
