English eroge publisher JAST has announced it will be scrapping its inconvenient system of DRM activation on all its products, with the new system having just gone into open beta.
The DRM system, previously required on all digital download editions, will be phased out (thanks at least in part to its incompatibility with the latest versions of windows), allowing erogaming to proceed on all Windows versions without the need for cumbersome activation or an Internet connection.
JAST’s full announcement can be read here, and their full catalogue can be browsed here.

I saw the notice in J-List's newsletter... I would no more buy a hentai game with an online authentication function than I would tweet what porn I'm watching at a given time - it's ridiculous, and rips the privacy right out of something that NEEDS it.
Music to her car? WTF?
Yep, i bet everyone hear thought the same, until we viewed the bigger version to see, that it was "music to hear ears."
Since the preview is small you might think shes talking about a car, lol :D
Hot
Great, glad they understood.
Does this make it easier to pirate the games?
Actually, we hated the V-Mate system from day one but had to work with the (old) G-Collections contractually. Note that we always gave you the choice between DRM and non-DRM, since the CD-ROM versions of their games don't use it. So it was never required. Nice that fans can purchase either version they like now with no limitations, and it's also good for 64 bit Windows users, since they can actually play the games now.
Too bad they are censored (as in editing/removing content).
MangaGamer might still use crap online activation, but at least they don't make a scandal about some drawings.
I believe the latter "freedom" is a lot more valuable than the first (I still hate DRM, though).
Wow, some ppl still butthurt over Family Project censoring.
theres at least 5 different fetishes going on in that pic
Excelent, Great to see. DRM just hurts sales it does not help stop piracy. The pirats will just bypass it in a matter of hours and all you have now is bloat ware that hinders people who actualy pay for the game.
The one DRM I have seen that has worked is the DJ Max Trilogy way. Unless I am wrong and people have found a way around the USB key thing.
I agree. Copy protection is just useless nowadays.
SuckuRom in GTA IV sucks balls.
Second link doesn't work...
I wonder how long does it take to fully translate a game and make it ready for the market professionally
"Fonfon" remind me the name of the imba main char in Regios. Super power but super dumd with girl... :)
Woot Lightning Warrior Raidy lol, and could I be first o.O hehe
Good to see JAST is working on such things. Peter from J-List is a really nice guy, he's been working hard with the eroge transitions between Japan and the US. Good luck to them in the future, and Onward Freedom-tan
are J-List and JAST related?
Yes, closely.
You could say they are part of the same company.
Lightning Warrior Raidy may perhaps be the WORST GAME IN EXISTENCE!! fuck everywhere is the fucking same its all corridors with invisible portals that bring you to OTHER CORRIDORS THAT LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME and all you do in battle is just attack or magic theres no skill in it just grinding
now fapping without DRM
The sound of woman's flesh being eaten is like music to my ears!
Im pretty sure it said "music to my CARS"
@Darkrockslizer: Actually She's saying cat ears not ears.
DRM is pure shit.
I lol at the thought that the new Win7 has problems with it since it was created with DRM in mind...
"I'm DRM, and Windows Seven was MY idea."

Well i sure wish that one of my Christmas gifts is to hear about Equality Now losing support and finally close down forever..
My Christmas wish is a meteorite falling from space and taking out EN headquarters, and small chunks breaking off in the atmosphere taking out every last individual member.
News of EN crashing will be a heavenly chorus
The news of Equality Now crashing will be like a godly chorus to our ears
oh nice so buyers can now enjoy playing the games as easy as pirates can ^^
Misleading article is misleading.
Jast dumped their old DRM, Virtual Mate, which is activate on some CDs and most download editions before Princess Waltz was released last year. New stuff since Princess Waltz however (including every 2009 game) has Software Defender DRM, and they are not dumping this DRM.
You are wise.
Also, don't buy localized games that are censored. Jast/J-List censors games and removes any scenes from games.
Comparing Mangagamer's annoucement that they will not remove scenes to this one? Mangagamer wins. Jast fails.
;_;
wo, no DRM is awesome
Huzzah for the message finally getting through to some publishers!
