60% of Japanese Women “Turning Into Men”

60% of Japanese women questioned in a recent survey report “turning into men,” with 70% reporting “there are men more feminine than I am around me” and 94% “I’d like to become more womanly.”
The survey, covering unmarried Japanese women aged 25-35, also found some other vaguely masculine traits, with 32% at times wanting “a wife or secretary” themselves, and 42% liking to drink alone.
Even more tellingly, 69% said they were conscious of being insufficiently womanly.
Just how this can be reconciled with a male population apparently displaying the opposite tendency is not clear…

Being normal is behaving like what everyone else do. Majority of women are feminine, if you are a woman and you are not feminine, you are probably abnormal.
I think that's how the world is right now. And things like equality between men and women, probably won't exist, at least not soon since you can see how the world is. People always have the mind set of protecting the women. Well, how about the men. Not saying that men need protection or women need it but those way of thinking will make everyone, well, most people, think that women are weaker and shit like that. (I'm kinda of topic XD)

First of all "Normality" is an unattainable Ideal, much like Perfection.
Second of all, seeing how the World just seems to go to Hell with each passing Day, it's becoming increasingly difficult to gauge just what exactly is considered "Normal" anymore :(

it's not unexpected as gender roles are seen as more and more outdated. though there's still the societal pressure to "masculine" or "feminine," people are natural just saying "to hell with it" and acting as they would like. it's a good thing really.

I want to see a decrease in those statistics saying women want wealthier men. Remember, you're not a real man of a woman until you're a breadwinner. And a deadbeat mom is just by far unacceptable.
Honestly, the ideal for me would again, for them to become MORE manly. To the point there are no gender roles in money. And women are no more likely to want wealth in a partner than men. You may find that to be disgusting or impossible, but I'd certainly find it to be beautiful. I'd be lying if I said I didn't.

It'd also be beautiful if people stopped stereotyping women based on what they read on Sankaku Complex though. I'm not targeting you or anything, but yeah, there are plenty of women who aren't like that; I'd go far enough to even say that MOST women I know don't think like that at all. I'd definitely feel like I wasn't contributing to the family if I didn't work or made less money to my hypothetical husband. (Yeah yeah, "go back to the kitchen and make me a sandwich.")
I think it's a two way street. Both men and women have a ways to go before we can create a world like that.

These japanese ladies are feeling less womanly not because they're tomboys but because all men around them are drifting away from the traditional "manly" image.
Rather than worry about conforming to gender roles, how about just being yourself? If men want to be more homely and soft-spoken and women want to be more assertive then let them be.
This doesn't mean that women are becoming less feminine, it's just that those women have an extremely distorted and unrealistic perception of themselves.
A lot of women are stuck in a childish middle school mindset where 'manly' meant 'act like a 13 year old boy by cussing, being rude, and picking fights you will never win so you can "impress" people'.
A lot of men are stuck in this stage anyways, so those women do have the right to call themselves manly.
The term masculine is incredibly subjective; going by one definition, I rarely see masculine women- women who take responsibility, have strong leadership and influence, are aggressive yet rational (not the 'look at what I can do!' type), etc. Of course, this is a sexist definition, but that's what I've mostly seen people use as the definitions of masculine and feminine.
That's the aftermath of equality.
