Well this is embarassing because Tetsuya Nomura's all into being "fashionable" (note the FFXIII Versus contract with that expensive suit company) and people who live in Japan don't wear shimamura outside of their own homes.

The more I look at her face, the more ugly she starts to become...

I fail to see whats so embarrassing about it, the outfit doesn't even look bad.

She looks fine too me. Nothing wrong with her being easy to cosplay as because she wears realistic clothing.

Combining all of those would only get the general idea of the costume. "General idea of" cosplay is for slackers! *coughAmericacough*

The skirt seems to be wrong, it's missing those frilly parts (which are my fave parts actually. I really like frills on girls).

Excuse me, but most of the items are only /similar/, not at all alike. You'd have to seriously mod most of the items for them to look alike.

Actually, very challenging, as without the body type, you'll look like a hideous ogre.

Basically none of this stuff actually 'matches'. The shape of the pendant, the lace edging on the skirt... this image is obviously a parody, not to be taken seriously, certainly not product placement. Take an close look at the Shimamura items and use your brain and you'll see that it's a joke and you've been successfully trolled.

Of course, none of this makes this costume design creative or original... which is the real point of the comparison image, to show that her outfit is SIMILAR to current downmarket fashion.

LOL. You can tell whoever picked out some of these items doesn't cosplay...some of these items are close to what she wears, but would nevertheless be unacceptable if you were trying to cosplay as her. A couple of the items are okay, though.
It is a fairly easy cosplay nevertheless, compared to the other Final Fantasy XIII outfits.
This reminds me that I should probably get started on my own cosplay... =.=;
