Gonzo being put out of its misery is that big a shock? They were on the downward slide for years.
But the Bakemonogatari v K-ON! result was a nice surprise, a witty, dialogue heavy show winning over moe. I hope this starts a new trend.
No one should be shocked about Eva, that thing is a bigger money spinner than Haruhi. I suspect Anno could continue "re-imagining" Eva and people will still watch.

Personally I think "Koreans Baw Over Hetalia" was one of the biggest news headlines and am surprised to not see it on the list. Think what you will about Hetalia, but how many other anime have had their TV run cancelled because Korea got butthurt?

Kobayashi is just similar to her characters. She portrays true maniacs.
Though I can make what is going there...not really surprised with a few of those. I rather like summer wars, will watch again when I have a chance.
Mamoru Hosoda is a genius, the next Miyazaki indeed and the only anime director so far who can really explote the talent of Sadamoto as a chara designer.
