In a few decades Jap Land will be part or Greater China or, and this is better, China will make a big holocaust.

china can make money and it's brilliant- although highly unethical. instead of paying money to outside companies for overseas products, why not make copies of the ideas and sell those instead to keep all the money and jobs inside china? To add to the strategy, China makes it really tough for outside companies to sell games that they deem are "controversial" thus insuring the market for China based copy artists. I.E WoW and China's WoW knockoff. If you ask me, China knows exactly what its doing- more than people give them credit for.

That is actually how it is supposed to work... someone makes something good, someone else emulates the style (sometimes almost exactly), and it sells!

Nintendo, Microsoft, etc. have to realize THAT IS HOW THE FRIGGING INDUSTRY WORKS!

It's been that way since... well, the 1600's. You either put more value in the GENUINE stuff so that people overlook these 'knock-offs' or your company disappears.

Uh, what is wrong with copying IC? Personally, I see similarities to Mario Galaxy there... but then again, I could see similaries between Super Mario Bros for the NES, Cave Story for the Nes, etc. etc. etc.

When you make something, and it is POPULAR.... you get people making KNOCKOFFS of it... there is nothing wrong with that, as long as the people in question ADMIT that your stuff inspired theirs!

Unfortunately, most of the 'copyright lawyers' live in a dream world where that is not the case, so they write ASININE laws to 'protect copyright' that end up stifling innovation.

Dont count in NES games, those everyone copied, something like "IP" didn't even exist. Nowadays, its something different. It is okay, to copy things to make a new expirience, but you shouldn't copy to simply make the same.

As a sinology student, i think that China has the right to do this. Japan, Korea and Vietnam are at their core nothing more than sub-cultures of China. They are part of the Sinosphere, a greater Chinese culture, so in the end, they are Chinese. You can't rob yourself.

    Comment by Anonymous
    05:02 02/12/2009 # ! Neutral (+0.4)

but you CAN rob a company and it's Italian Plumber's quest into space.

also, China had a big influence on other Asian countries, but these countries all developed their own identity.

to say "You can't rob yourself" is really misleading, Since they are completely different people with different cultures and social structures.

any history student can tell you the key differences between China and Japan.

and that goes double for present day China.

I'd advise you to take a better look at your view, perhaps brushing up (or taking classes in) Anthropology as well...

That. That right there makes me think you're not really a sinology student. Why the fuck would anybody want a degree in the study of simply "China" to begin with? It's funny how everyone who jumps on the "omg plagiarism" bandwagon from a 30sec gameplay video.

If this is plagiarism, then Id software should be getting tons of royalties for every single shooter on the planet. And Nintendo should be paying Universal for inventing the platformer genre.

people 'scream' plagiarism because the game is pretty much a carbon copy of Mario Galaxy

I'll be honest in saying I've seen texture hacks of Super Mario 64 that could pass for original games, when compared to this... 'game'.

    Ahahaha...

"FLom each accolding to he ability, to each accolding to he needs..."

Seriously, tho- Let's not outright say "Plagiarism"

First, it's been proven time and again in the fiction/literary field that it is entirely possible for two writers, even two teams of writers to come up with the SAME idea, right down to most of the character names without any involvement or attempt to copy/imitate the other. Especially in the same limited field.

Now, frankly, Mario is the top at "Platformer" games and they are doing a very good move to re-interpet them into the 3D pixel realm. But, if another company makes a 3D platformer, well there's a limited amount of stuff they can do with it. What shapes work, what effects look cool, etc.

The only thing they "Ripped off" that wasn't done dozens of times before was the "Multiple Planets/Gravity" within the same playing field-I think, though there's probably some obscure title that did it first before Nintendo did their awesome looking "Super Mario Galaxy" on the Wii. And that, is not "Plagarism" it's "Imitation". And Imitation, mon petit ami, is the sincerest form of flattery.

    >you ruined it all when you tried to use French.

Ah, all you "TL:DR" trolls, why even bother responding then? Just don't respond and STFU.

Several college instructors I've had (and a few High School ones) have insisted "The French Ruined Everything"... And they made a good case I couldn't really argue with.

And I don't really care about French or French culture that much, 'cept DeSade and Mime. The latter I consider a subtle and deadly art that I study in spare time off and on. The former is a good inspierer of sexy fantasies. The modern "Vanilla" version of course, the surprisingly tight bodied 'innocent damsel' getting mostly stripped and lightly flogged in the face of degenerate Aristocrats... Not the lady sewn in a fresh cow skin being crushed slowly as it shrinks or two homos sharing a meal by vomiting it back and forth into each others mouths as they gay sex each other...

I was kind of expecting a pathetic troll whine, but thought it would be about my mentioning some "Remittant Glasp of Lound Eye Toonnge..." but I meant no disrespect, westerners doubtless sound more horrid and are much joked about attempting eastern languages and their (Spoken) stuff does make better sense than our "Phonetic, but written with crazy rules" language; "Engrish: Easy to lealn but Vely hald tu Spik!"

But for only lightly mentioning the FRENCH!? ahhahahaha!

It's not that the games are so similar, it's that they probably just hacked into Super Mario Galaxy and changed a few character models.

    Comment by Barbarian of Gor
    05:33 03/12/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

Ever look up any "Hacked" Super Mario 64 on YouTube? Yeah, some people with way too much free time and obsession... Well the results don't look shitty, or PS2 mediocre on a newer system.

Now, it's got some of the same "Features" like tiny little worlds with gravity, etc. But the game's engine itself seems generic. I'm not up on game programming, but it reminds me of free/few hundred $ upgrade engines they promote in books at the bookstores for aspiring game programmers.

The "Rotating cylinder" that shows on the pre-play preview on both games should be the giveaway. In the former, it's perfect so you get an idea what it does. The latter, the textures merge together. The latter is like "Malice" an under appreciated and early PS2 game, really good for its time but almsot 'generic' now in what could be done.

In the mass media, things tend to come in "Twos". Now, sometimes it's blatant, like when Disney is going to release a movie, as soon as they put up the posters someone rushes through a cheaply animated imitation using the same title, or similar title when they do something that was (until they got their hands on it) "Public Domain". But there often are things, like movies, TV shows, etc. that inexplicably come out at the same time as each other. Some are a 'trend' like how "Forrest Gump" caused a rash of "Stupid" movies - "Dumb and Dumber", "Who's Harry Crumb", "Bean" etc... Some just have an oddly similar flavor.

I think this game is simply "Imitative" that someone in the producer's office said "That look good. Going to be popular. You do something like it. You do it now." So they put together the mini-world hopping and the "Cute Dinosaur" elements into a 3D platformer game that probably isn't as cool as Super Mario Galaxy... But I strongly doubt plagarism, it's the "Sincerest form of flattery".

And, really, perhaps I'm just wasting time arguing with a bunch of "Clique Weasals" who think it's "Cool" to bash this... But really, should the producers of "Street Fighter" be able to sue and ban and remove from the market "Fatal Fury", "Virtua Fighter", "Tekken", "Art of Fighting" - but then themselves be ruined by a suit from Broderbund ("Karateka") that later is ruined by a suit from whoever made "Karate Champ"?

they used the same Font for the title, same animations, a sprite swapped icon for the pointer, one of the bosses from Mario Galaxy, and I believe someone also mentioned that the music played is from Galaxy too...

so, tally that up and you get: not a rip-off, but a fucking COPY of the original game, just painted over so they can try to pass it off as their own work.

though to be fair, this game will be terrible, the frame rate and visuals all look clunky and I have a feeling it's gonna control like ass
