Nintendo’s much maligned DSi LL has sold 104,000 units in two days, according to Enterbrain estimates, double what Sony’s nogoing PSP Go managed in three weeks of release.

However, the DSi LL itself barely managed half the DSi’s two day sales of 170,000…

The tale can readily be told in release day queue comparisons:

dsi-ll-crowded-queue.jpg

It seems that the PSP Go is a failure of exceptional proportions, even compared to the limited charms of the DS Chunky.

The DSi LL is available now.

I believe the main complain was that even though the screen is bigger, but the resolution remain unchanged, so visually it ain't gonna be as sharp as DSI or DSL.

    I love my DSi!
It even outsold its oversized li'l bro...

I guess being the younger system "DSi XL / DSi LL" will be looking up to its big bro, the "DSi"--which is actually smaller.

But one thing the XL will cater to...? The visually-handicapped who are unable to see it if it's small. That system will propel Nintendo above even Microsoft...

The makers of the undisputed champ Game Boy have another runaway success in the making...now all it needs it a killer app of 2010. We just gotta finish 2009.

This is expected... I don't know much about the DSi LL, but the PSP Go definitely should be scrapped immediately. Sony should just accept the fact that us gamers would never accept the Go. Scrapping it would save them so much more resources instead of trying to promote it further.

    - Same battery life as the regular PSP, despite the fact it's missing the UMD drive.
    - Priced significantly higher than the regular PSP, only $50 difference from a PS3.
    - Required to buy Sony specific peripherals, and the old PSP peripherals won't work on the PSP Go.
    - Screen is smaller.
    - Cramped button and controller placement if you have big hands.
    - All games are Digital Downloads only, so Sony sets the price without worry of competing prices, so they can keep the same launch price 10 years from the game's release.
    - Different SD card type from the original.
    - Region locked, since you can't buy games outside the country with your account.
    - No UMD support for people who already have cartridges.
    - There are more, but I forgot them at the moment.

I know. But Sony should really focus on the consoles more. I hate it when they put sequels of games to the handhelds. Takes the fun out of somethings. Example. Narutimate Accel 4, I play the Narutimate Accel series in PS2 because it is fun inviting your friends over and beating the hell out of each other in front of the big screen. But since they moved it to PSP. It takes away the fun of it all. PSP should focus more on RPGs and less on multiplayers. I mean. The games that are being played in the PSP can obviously be played on the PS2 and PS3...

    Hardly surprising.

The PSP GO offers nothing and the DSiLL gives you a much bigger screen and bigger battery plus personally I just like it being bigger (hey not all of us have micro hands eh).

I was super pumped to get one till A. I heard a game publisher friend was dropping the DS for titles as retailers couldn't be relied on to put their games on the shelves (which means I can't be expecting future DS games from them) and B. realized I would likely be happier with a new laptop for my mobile on the move needs.

It will likely be 2012 before my wallet has an interest in replacing my DSl.

The PsP was a bomb to begin with with its Overpriced UMD movies and the worst of it all..

No second "Joystick"! Hell, if they just sacrificed some resolution on the screen. They could've made a Touch Screen no less. Would of made a few of those games a little bit more user friendly I say. Seriously, the flipping i-phone has fucking games on it that uses nothing but the fucking screen right?

I believe that if they'd just sold the goddamn movies at a price under $10, it would of found a market as a on the "Go" entertainment system at the very least.

Sorry to be interrupt you, but I think you're pointing out the wrong aspects. There's totally nothing wrong with not having a second nub. Maybe it'll cause some games not to play that well as you're used to on the PS, but then again, those are mostly the games you should play at home. That's my personal opinion though. The large difference between the DS and PSP is mostly its "use". DS has dual screen and a touch screen, and a low qual mic while we're at it. The PSP gives quality as in graphics, the mobo is pretty nice, and it has great online functions as well. It does resemble the way Sony handles consoles.

Overpriced UMD movies, yeah I guess...Then again, I rarely watch movies on a handheld. I might as well buy an MP4 player etc. But 10 bucks? You do know they still have to make SOME profit... It'd be quite unfair as well.

I prefer PSPs, and my PSPs are my favorite system next to Dreamcast, but still above SNES.

...but both systems are made of distilled failjuice. The DSI-LL isn't too big for me, and I'd get it if I wanted a DSi (iDon't - I'd rather have a GBA slot than cameras and DSiWare) but at least Nintendo gives something in return for their lost functionality instead of the PSP Go's choice of simply giving you a subset of the PSP's functions at a higher price with a smaller screen and cramped buttons... I mean WTF. I'll play PSP until my fingers fall off, but the Go is just weak...

PSP is alright but it has less than 10 games that are fun and I think are worth the money (that depends on what you like to play of course). It IS a very neat piece of portable media device, but it's kind of a pain to convert everything.

Is the stupid fucking Fat DS, the 4th god damn DS to come out, 'crushing' it? Fuck no. I'm sure that the GBA probably would've sold more from the time the PSP Go was released until this statistic.

Seriously, why the fuck do people keep buying DSes? They're the same fucking thing as the first one, except smaller in one case, smaller with a shitty pixilated camera which many 1990s cell phones outdo, and one that's the larger version of the smaller one. Of which all games are just stretched so they fit the screen, making it look disgusting.
