Hmmm.. You might be right, but it's what I heard not along ago (here in Italy)... anyway I might have heard it wrong. I should have made sure before trolling :P
Anyway it doesn't change the fact that teh umbilical cords are disposed of everyday without any use. They should ALL, or major part go to cord blood bank, even though finding the compatible patients is near impossible, but at least it should be used for medical research purposes. Since there are a lot of people in need for cure with cancer, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or even HIV.

Hello, sankaku-san.
I´m from Peru I always read your blog, but as you can see never do comments.
Well, certainly, lots of fairy tales, myths, legends surround my land. Most of youngsters don't care or don´t know about this stories especially the one in the capital city they are all ignorant and stuff ¬¬ they don´t value our culture...., but I do know those tales. Well, "Pishtako"(It's not a witch)...it's a kind of monster or assasin that used to steal peoples fat to lubricate trains in the distant past, most of the fat was extracted at dark places or at night being the stomach fat very valuable, or that is how story goes.....
But nowadays, this news from those guys killing people, they in fact kill them, but to extract the fat....maybe was not their purpose. Maybe other unknown reason are envolved. Think a little, imagine that to have our food we have to wash it or to cook it. Such procedures as extracting fat need even more cautious.

Come to the highlands some day, maybe you will find a pishtako.!!!! hahahahahaha xD
