America is founded on the idea that all men are equal. To bow to an Emperor proclaiming to be a god among men kinda messes that up. It makes this one man better then what he really is, just another man in a world full of people.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." a little quote from our constitution. In America the idea is that everyone has a chance to become great. To bow to a man given everything just for having the right parents again kinda sends the wrong message. Presidents have traveled the world and kindly refused to bow to any man, if only out of politeness giving a light nod.
Being the first American president to fully bow to a monarch kinda makes you wonder if he understands what really makes America great.

To gain respect one must give respect. Bowing down is a sign of respect not a sign of self degrading. One that knows how to respect is humble. There you go America. Your president is a humble man. What more you want to see in him. Better than some so called world leaders that are so proud to admit their mistakes and makes the whole country rot.

The Saudi bow was a honest mistake, he went too low. The Japan bow was an outright f***up, he should have known not to bow so deeply from the previous one.

Yeah, the most powerful person on the planet. The title is not in fact President of America, but President of the World. So of course he shouldn't bow to other rulers, because those rulers are THAT important that he must avoid their customs to assert and further make evident his massive power. I love the critique of the bow, but let's be realistic. The American pundits who are faux-outraged know just as much about bowing in Japan as Obama does (nothing). They just want people to believe Obama is giving in to foreign leaders. Which is interesting considering the Saudi leader Obama bowed to is the same leader Bush held hands with and kissed.
