Cannibal Who Killed & Ate Mother Spared “He Was Hungry”

A cannibal who murdered and ate his own mother over a month has been given a reduced sentence after a judge ruled that “he needed to eat” after having spent all his money on vodka and gambling.
The 27-year-old Russian man, a resident of Samara and convicted robber, smashed his 55-year-old mother’s head with a brick and then strangled her to death with a length of cable after she refused to give him her pension so he could buy booze.
He subsequently stowed her body on his apartment’s balcony, and then spent her pension payment on alcohol and gambling over a two day period.
Once he got home he once again had no money and ran out of food, but fortunately severe temperatures had frozen the corpse of his mother solid, telling police “She was frozen, like meat in the freezer.”
He began slicing off parts of her body to flesh out his meals of soup and pasta, a ghoulish culinary regime he continued for a month.
He complained his mother’s flesh was not very tasty: ‘I did not like the meat very much. It was too fatty. But I was so hungry, I had to eat it.’
His macabre larder was only discovered when police investigating him for the theft of a mobile phone found the corpse still on the balcony, but missing both legs.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years for his crimes, but the judge sympathised with his plight, saying ‘he was not keen to eat the meat, he just was hungry,’ and generously reduced his sentence by 9 months.
Psychological evaluations judged him to be sane and well aware of the nature of his actions.

If he is considered insane then he can instantly bypass the jail term as well as all the perks mentally disabled people get.
The reason the judge gave him reduced punishment is probably because he knows the man won't survive those 15 years.
It is common knowledge in Russia that matricide is unforgivable in criminal circles. You can be a killer, a thief and a con artist and the criminals will just shrug. But once you kill a parent, you're done for.
None of the criminals judged for matricide come out of prison in one piece. They are tortured, raped and sometimes killed. In the cases where they survive prison, they're branded with symbolic and very visible tattoos that make them free game for every thug and criminal outside the prison.
Those 9 months mean nothing. The judge knows fully that the rest of the sentence will feel like an eternity in hell for the guy.
