sadly railgun ridiculized kuroko, and i dont like the moefication the designs gotten in railgun, i prefered index's in every way.
The only part of her that they're ridiculizing is her obsession with Mikoto. Other than that, she's a pretty well-rounded character. Her relationship with Uiharu, her developing ESP talents, etc. are all treated pretty seriously.
Moeification of the character designs may resolve itself. It looks like the timeline here is about a year before Index, and they may be allowing for the fact that the characters are growing up physically. IF Index 2 uses the moe designs then there's a problem.
im pretty sure its not a year before index, more likely an alternate universe, it is a spin off series after all. If it was really a year before Index, than Touma would not have met Mikoto a year before hand, because in Index, Touma meets index the day after he fights Mikoto. And if you recall,Touma said he was aware that Mikoto was one of the few level fives, which means hes heard of her but never met her. So, for the Index fanboys, its better to be an alternate universe, so that way Touma can have both Index and Mikoto and everybody is happy
It's not an AU. Well, no the anime would be an AU since it alters the timeline from the manga.
But the Railgun manga is not an AU to the Index novels.
You misunderstood something. Right from the prologue of the first Index novel, the bridge fight scene you referred to, Touma comments that he and Mikoto have been going at these "fights" for about a month.
The bridge fight was never their first meeting.
To clarify, Index starts on the night of July 19th, and Touma met Mikoto for the first time around June 17th.
An expressive character like this must be a seiyuu's dream.

Not to mention that she voiced Florance Kirishima (from SD Gundam G Generation Spirits & Wars), I noticed a little similarity between their voice when they're both actually voiced by the same person.
I want Touma to set Shirai straight! I mean Touma has a lot of variety of girls in his harem with lots of different personalities, except a yuri girl like Shirai Kuroko, so I want the guy to conquer perhaps the hardest girl to capture!
LOL Kuroko's voice is hotness! Don't think she's overacting at all, over the top with her antics maybe, but not overacting. Cheering for her all the way this series, even if Mikoto already is fixated on Touma.
