The latest Dragon Ball video game, Spike’s Dragon Ball Raging Blast, is set for a multiplatform PS3 and Xbox 360 release on November 12th in Japan.
Observers have been quick to note some significant graphical differences between the two versions…
The comparison PNGs:

Xbox 360:
It looks as if the blast will not be the only thing raging about this.

There are three more strands of hair on his front left bang in the XBOX 360 version?
I see no difference, and even if I did, I don't care. DB sucks. In fact, it's one of the most sucky franchises out there. I don't get how anyone can like it.
no look the background has a few more rocks to blow up... and the 360 version has 100+ more hours of charging times before attacks...
Are you fucking blind or something and DB does not "suck". I bet you're one of those sailormoon fanboys who crossdress as one.
Dragonball is, from what little experience I have with the franchise, fairly generic shonen anime. I will admit that it's fairly generic because everyone else started ripping it off, however.
That said, every shonen anime that isn't Yakitate!! Japan fails.
Yakitate!! Japan is amazing, but that in itself is a parody oriented series, ripping off of animes that the directors liked, most of which are shonen. Fist of the North Star (Yes, it IS Shonen) is one of them and there are very few people who could ever give enough good reason to even slightly dislike Fist of the North.
Indeed Fist of the North Star is far superior to dragonball or any other bullshit shonen ( e.g Bleach, Naruto, One Piece) in both action and story.
Eh, I haven't seen Fist of the North Star, so Yakitate!! Japan still stands as my favorite, partially because it's a parody. Series really went downhill after the Pierrot arc, though. I think I'm mostly pissed about the most badass character, Kawachi, getting demoted to Butt Monkey.
i don t really see much diference between those 2 pictures
the ps3 version has a more grey-blue and its missing a few rock chunks....ever played spot the difference?
PS3 POWER!
lol ps3 got longer speech...
No, that was the victory-pose, the rocks were destroyed in the PS3-Version.
Exactly, rock are destroyable, here's another cap on the PS3 for the xbots:
http://www.dotup.org/uploda/www.dotup.org300824.bmp
PS3 is supposed to have higher resolution according to the source of the original article at Hatimaki.
Yea, the game does have destructible environments just not too many.
And the destroyed rocks re-appear for cutscenes.
Xbox gets an extra rock
xbox 1 - ps3 0
WIN
No, all the rocks are in place in the PS3 version if you don't destroy them. Same as the 360's rock count. Plus PS3 version has better anti aliasing.
Seriously, which crappy looking Dragonball looks SLIGHTLY better on which console? Get a life...
Besides the missing rock in the background, I can't see any significant difference. Certainly not anything that would keep a person from buying it if they wanted to.
PS3 has less details because it can't compute as many polygons as Xbox...
anti-aliasing, a couple extra rocks here and there. 360 one is better on a level so minuscule that it'd only serve as fodder for console fags to war with.
Ah, right! Someone really needs to explain to me what anti-aliasing means. I've seen that term so often, yet I still don't know what it means.
simply put, it's a technology used to make the edges of a picture smoother.
It has to do with signal processing. When sampling points in a analog signal, you need enough points to derive the original frequency. The theorem of Shannon states that you need at least twice the maximum frequency you wish to detect. Otherwise you get residual frequences that do not exist in the original signal. That effect is called aliasing.
What this has to do with games is that using anti-aliasing you can smooth out the pixels, so instead of rising blocks you get a line.
thats a victory pose, hence the end of the battle. so the rock that are missing on the ps3 version must have been destroyed in the battle.
yes, the whole enviroment of the maps is destroyable
@Anon 20:22 & 20:25 - thx for the explanation on anti-aliasing. i, too, have long heard the term without understanding the meaning.
They both seem to have crap Anti-Aliasing jaggies everywhere.
The xBox360 version seems to have much better LOD (Level of Detail - basically using different sized textures based on the distance from the viewer)and anisotropic filtering (averaging the LOD frequency to fill in the gaps between the data). Look at the bushes and trees to the right behind the character.
Ah, great! That's an amazing explanation on anti-aliasing. Anon :25's explanation was so detailed I was having a hard time understanding it, but after reading it 3 times I understood everything. XD thanks so much!
Pic for Xbox 360 is more "anti-aliasing" than PS3
How about the rock that has disappeared in the top left?
and the one thats right behind his head.
Destructible environment.
check out the outlines
A couple more mountains... but could be a change of camera, or because they are randomly generated...
this is actually what it is, that level has different rocks everytime you play
But we can still assume rocks spawn more often on XboX than PS3 just by looking at these images no?
Go play the demo, the rocks get destroyed during gameplay.
the difference is in the dialog. and also the rock
LOL! You're an idiot. Opening/victory taunts are always chosen randomly. The dialogue's the same in both versions.
If he was being sarcastic, then that would make you the idiot for not getting the sarcasm.
haha seconds guys right
The X-Box version has more geometry in it. Two of the rock pillars are missing in the PS3 version.
in all of 360/PS3 comparisons. The 360 version seems to have more "add-on"s (eg. extra rocks). why is that?
theres a ROCK MISSING
OH SHIT!
RUUUUUUUN!
bad game is bad
real games
PS3 looks sharper compared to 360. 360 seems to be alot more blured
yea thats what i thought too
Blurring is caused by a smoothing filter, a form of anti-aliasing.
Yeah the worth type of anti-anliasing that is possible... blurring. Real antialiasing uses super-sampling on the edges of the polygons, but I've never seen that in any console game.
(PC ftw :P)
As far as I can see the 360 version just has some blur to cover the Aliased lines where as the ps3 version doesn't.
Don't think it's a big deal, I'd play either version, I'm not one of these new breeds that get all OCD over HD.
You said it dude. i m not really care which versions to play because, for ma eyes they are almost the same as far the only thing i spoted of diference was 1 rock and nothing more o_o
360 is darker? which from Bayonetta point of view darker = better graphics apparantly?
Not just Bayonetta, Resident Evil 5 as well. Its darkness vs washed out grey. Of course, I know some people that pump their brightness and contrast up so that there is no black, only grey, but that drives me mad... mad I tell you!
who cares!
tried demo it sucks...
Xbox 360 better?
xbox 360 has got anti-aliasing, where as the ps3 has a lack thereof. if the ps3 is like seriously lacking these nice rocks and mountains, then some shit is gonna fly. probably developed first on the 360 then tried to port to ps3 with fail results. can't blame the system, just the lazy developers.
It's not really (decent) AA. It looks more like a blur filter was put on, post processing.
I prefer the PS3 version if that kind of stuff is forced.
To extend: On far away objects, it looks fine. A depth-of-field filter would have looked just lovely. Filtering the entire image like this, however, makes the lines look uneven and clumpy in places.
That's not a blur filter, that is 2x FSAA.
Lol. Try enabling 2x FSAA in a game on your PC. You will see that it looks much better than this "anti-aliasing" filter...
Whaaat? They REMOVED some rocks from the field? NO WAY. There's NO excuse for this whatsoever!! *sarcasm*
AHAHA. Artefact, you win. Reading these comments are the true meat of your article. XD
There is only one rock difference since the one behind Goku on the 360 one is just replaced by one further back on the PS3. The PS3 has a better looking sky also.
OMG who stole the rock from PS3 version ??
Microsoft with their greedy hands
I lol'd
.....really....the dialog is the big thing. Its a pretty big difference compared to the ps3. 360 version=americanized over masculine crap. A typical blunder the us makes.
Are you being serious? Each quote exists in both versions.
360 version looks a bit better but the gameplay is what really matters.
I totally agree with you.
The game has horrible graphics in both consoles anyway.
Just look at the character.
It's kind of disappointing because with the power this consoles have they could have made it look like the anime but they are just pleased to stick to N64 graphics.
The PS3 version has deeper colors, but Goku's "forehair" seems to be somewhat rough and there are boulders missing..
They just lost a buyer.
here we go with this again....you know what I think I'm going to make a multiplatform fps, its going to be called "my dick" and I want every one's opinion's on what console it looks better for.
No rock for you, Psfags
Hey xbot did u try out the game you dumb fuck?
PS3 screen cap w/ the rocks not destroyed during game play:
http://www.dotup.org/uploda/www.dotup.org300824.bmp
learn2link
PS3 version is clearly superior.
what a boring game... just looks and feels like al the past ps2 dragon ball games.... even the animation is the same XD
Yes, I can see how this game needs a -graphical- comparison.
It's more than just a rock and some jaggies, gentlemen.
The color range is much greater on the 360 version, anti-aliasing is higher, and it seems they were also able to add in more terrain to the 360 version.
I'm a big PS3fag so I'm used to this kind of treatment. I just hope people will fucking start developing multiplats on the PS3 first instead of the 360.
Demoed it and wasn't impressed deleted it after 2 matches so at this point it doesn't matter to me which is better it's just a polished turd on whichever is better shit will always = shit
Either or, it doesn't make much of a difference on this game since the "texture" detail is kinda anime to start with.
Though it does seem to show that the battle fought on the PS3 was far more messy. The sierra club are probably shiting tofu bricks over all the land destroyed in that pic.
theres a stone or two missing from the ps3 frame?! the shock! the horror!
This post is going to have 300 comments in no time.
OMG! Goku speaks less in Xbox360..
Yep, just finished the demo, and what I saw as the winner is the background shown on the 360. Which again tells me that the battle on the PS3 was far more destructive than the limp battle fought on the 360...
Though of course I did as good as the 360 player to end up with the "pristine" victory pose. I'm Not much of a fighting fool who knows all them fancy punch 'em moves.
i'm all for ps3
but this game is stupid waste of money
what's the difference???
Xbox's is not anti-aliased but actually at a lower resolution then the PS3's, look properly at the "blur" jaggies.
not picking any sides here, just saying.
If you count the aliasing lines on some sharp edge (like the black line on his arm), you'll see that there is the same number of pixels in both versions. So the resolution is the same, it's just somewhat blurred in the Xbox 360.
Actually it looks like the pic is moved by 0.5 pixel in both directions, averaging the values of neighbor pixels.
360's Gokuu: "Don't bother. It's over." PS3 is finished.
Lol sorry, I just had to do that lame joke.
Yeah, missing rock and lack of filtering on PS3. Don't see much beyond that, we need all that technical scribble of DF over the pics to actually know about their respective native resolutions and whatnot.
360 sucks anyway. Why bother? why pose thread about gay box anyway? shama... FFXIII need 3 disc BOOOHHHHHH SUCK MAN
Does the 360 suck? If it sucks then how come it has sold so well? But does that mean the people who bought one suck as well? I'm pretty sure I don't suck and I bought one...or does the fact that I own a Wii and PS3 counteract the suckage?
1/10
oh no xbox 360 has a extra rock FUCK must be HEAPSSSS better then ps3 lmfao
It's sarcasm. Wow, guys....
http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=659769148
Game sucks on both consoles.
It actually looks like the 360 version is upscaled rather than having anti-aliasing
Can't really count the backgrtound rocks since they are destroyable, and could have well been done so during the gameplay seqeuence before that screen was taken.
The main difference here is that the 360 version uses anti-aliasing while the PS3 version doesn't, making it look really jagged, which is even more noticable in games like this that use cel-shaded graphics technology.
sankaku fags like you all suck
0/10. Too obvious, troll.
Better anti-aliasing in the 360 version.
You have a choice between sharp jagged edges and blurry jagged edges.
XBOX!
better
haha
The rock isn't missing in the PS3 picture. It was destroyed. If you've ever played the Budokai Tenkaichi (Sparking) games before, you know the environment can be destroyed.
Also, the difference between the two is entirely miniscule. I really don't notice anything.
I'm getting the 360 version, because that's the one the GameStop guy asked me about. If that doesn't work, I'll get the PS3 version and see how it holds up.
Lastly, if the gameplay is good, than that's what really matters. Maybe it'll keep me off of Super Dragonball Z.
Mysterious Voice: "So you'd prefer 3 characters with 130 skins over truly unique characters? Nothing should keep you off of Super Dragonball Z."
That's a low blow, Mysterious Voice...
Mysterious Voice: "My specialty."
I remember hearing the Ghostbusters devs saying if the game was exclusive to PS3 there would be more crap flying around, I am often confused to why multiconsole PS3 games have less crap in the background.
IMO PS3 fails for having less colour saturation. I like vivid colours.
This is a DBZ game, who cares....
lol at these 360 vs PS3 threads... so many fanbois get their knickers in a knot.
Well Artefact always posts these PS3 vs Xbox360 articles in the first place.
So Ps3 had more detail in terms of sky, and 360 tried to make up for it with rocks?
The 360 version is more sharp, but the sky detail is better on the PS3 version. Not much of a difference though.
Can't we all just agree that multiplat games suck at PS3, 'coz devs are too lazy to reprogramming everything for the PS3.
This is a stupid article. It just seems like bait to start another fanboy flame war. Do really need so many of these console flamebait aricles?
it brings more traffic to the site?
dunno if it's wise to increase hits at the cost of more infantile cretins obsessing over if their expensive toys are better than the "other" expensive toy
There's differences? In the text yeah, but other than that...
Who cares anyway. These DBZ games are fun for like, 10 minutes and then get really old. :/
I bet Dragonball Evolution's game on the XBOX360 will be super awsome too. Justin Chatwin is hawt
360 has higher contrast, but that's just a TV setting so it doesn't matter which console.
Oh my dog they have more rocks
The Tenkaichi style games suck anyway so who cares
Whatever. It's just another Dragonball fighting, same things as always. I prefer playing Dragonball - Revenge of King Piccolo at Wii.
It's very clear, people, that the rocks in the background were previously destroyed before the screenshot was taken. The playstation 3 has deeper black tones, and much more vibrant color. the average gamer wouldn't notice the difference but if you're OCD like me, you definitely will be able to tell.
well kinda stopped caring about dragon ball ever since they put reruns of it for about 2 years from dragonball to dragonball gt, you'll just tired of it
they are the same thing but PS3 version is better.
why?
because it doesn't have stupid blurr to cover up the jaggy edges. Sharpness is good!
