Marvel Comics classic X-Men was recently adapted into a shoujo manga of all things, not inappropriately titled “X-Men: Misfits” – a comparison is visible above.
Although the artist responsible are apparently small-time shoujo mangaka, the title itself is written and published in English for the American market, probably explaining the extremely awkward mismatch of genres – an equivalent Japanese version might be expected to fall firmly into the shonen demographic.
Perhaps fortunately for fans of both shoujo and Marvel, the title appears to have sunk without trace…

X-Men wouldn't be X-Men without the trademark characters, especially Wolverine (and his gruff personality). If the Japanese manga wants to enjoy the same popularity as the American comic, then it should keep the original formula so that it's at least recognizeable. The manga is more like the equivalent of the Marvel/Madhouse Wolverine trailer, if you remember it at all.

Ahahaha! This is great stuff right here. Personally I prefer the east but most people feel negative about this is because the west made a staple about this. There might be an equation in your head that might go something like Marvel=Rigid Western style art form. It reminds me of the first episode of Seitokai no Ichizon about the difference in media either way it's all about preference.

A good X-men manga adaption is possible, but this is SO not the right way of handling it. Just another piece of crap trying to exploit of the manga wave. The project was doomed the second they decided to hire that amateur loser.

Why are you calling them anime characters anyway? But I have to agree with Van-d-all: Wester superheroes are by far not as varied and interesting as Eastern creations. I know arguing that their respective Western storylines are good is quite possible, but that doesn't change the fact that they're all based on having super powers. The Western comic market seems to be stuck in that.

Sort of agree, there is no need to clone X-Men into manga, much less change everything, this, like the DBZ movie is a big case of "why bother if you are going to change everything.
But while I'm against these kinds of adaptations I agree that I'd rather read this manga than the original X-Men comic.
Manga-styled artists has made X-men comics before. I recall a manga-styled X-men rendition done by someone named Warrior Ohashi, and it's a manga for all functions and purposes.
But yeah, shojo X-men is weeeeird. There are BL pairings in the 'canon' timeline of X-men, but IINM they are more or less implied and not shown off. Not to mention that not all X-guys are Bishie qualified... Bishie Wolvie and Bishie Nightcrawler will be beyond weird.
Its a another side of the X-men story that people would maybe get into I do agree that making it into a shoujo series will be hard to make people buy unless women would buy this.
