Top 10 Summer 2009 Anime, According to Dengeki

Dengeki readers were surveyed as to which anime they thought the best of summer 2009, yielding results which in retrospect are not entirely surprising.
However, when their most anticipated summer anime are compared to the most well received after the fact, the results are quite interesting…
Firstly, these are the most anticipated series prior to the start of the summer season:
1. Spice and Wolf II
2. Umineko no Naku Koro ni
3. Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
4. Bakemonogatari
5. Canaan
6. Taisho Yakyuu Musume
7. GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class
8. Kanamemo
9. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
10. Umimonogatari
And these are the most highly rated after the finish of the season:

Dengeki readers will not be winning any awards for punditry it seems; 5 of the anime remained in the list, but all the top spots were upsets and a number of the most anticipated sunk without trace…

Valkyria Chronicles 6th? Really? Well, I guess if you didn't play the game...
Nice to see Umineko at 5th. Hardly a perfect adaptation (when are VN adaptations ever perfect?), but it's certainly entertaining enough. They've been doing well with the latest VN episode so far.
Haven't seen the anime, but the Saki manga's fun and the characters are likable. Not surprised to see it in 2nd.
A bit surprised that Zan SZS isn't in there, but I haven't really been feeling it this season. SHAFT wasn't doing anything clever with it like in other seasons, just slavishly following the manga to the letter. Guess they were putting all their efforts into Bakemonogatari. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Please notice that the first list is for summer anime only, and the second list include anime from spring and summer. Basically the second list is about the best summer anime as in anime that are airing throughout the summer.

They never actually appeared on the screen. Those are artificial memories that downloaded into your brain as you watched Saki episodes.
