The release of Tekken 6 on PS3 and Xbox 360 is imminent, and computer graphics experts have decreed that the PS3 version is superior graphically.
Sadly, the experts in question insisted on using Heihachi’s impressive yet geriatric physique to make the comparison, which can be seen below…
With motion blur there is virtually no difference:
However, with motion blur off, visual quality is minutely improved and after much beating about the bush experts prefer the PS3 version:

The PS3 version is also said to make full use of the additional 20GB of space allowed by the PS3′s Blu-ray format, although this looks all to have been squandered on shiny pre-rendered CG cutscenes.

I make games for a living (70% graphics engine programming - 14yrs and counting), and every time one of these posts comes up, I am forced to stay off of the comments list, as it's nearly as useless as the 'fuck China' posts. But really... over and over... these posts make me sick. The 360 is _different_ than the PS3. There are reasons it's better, often... and it's also worse a fair bit too. In this specific case, the thing I love is seeing 'net retards with no sense of how this shit works blather over AA vs no AA. Wow, congrats, you are clueless. The PS3's frame-buffer, on most _modern_ displays (aka non CRT) will blur like a MF when it samples from 1024x576... 1280x768 TVs will blur (or just oversample if they don't filter), and 1920x1080 TVs will blur it. Simple as that. So those 'pre-filtered' pixels on the PS3 won't look any better than the X360 _non_ blurred pixels at 1280x768 (x360 will look more crisp, and at that res, sitting at a reasonable distance from the screen, it'll look excellent). On 1920x1080, it'll look approx the same... sharper for sure. Again, not a 'negative'. As bitmaps, the PS3 looks better, coming out of your TV/LCD, they will look more or less the same. Enjoy.
The Digital Foundry original article went into all this in painful detail. Trouble is nobody cares - what they want is the cut and thrust of console tribalism.

Not to mention motion blur is a pretty badass visual effect for when you see the game in motion (redundant, I know) rather than static, far less relevant still screenshots that aren't as good of a comparison method as actual in-game footage is.
But yeah, we're discussing a game that's being simultaneously released on both platforms, of course a true videogame console will have a better overall performance when compared to a computing server/ movie player hybrid that "only does everything", save for superior looking games with motion blur.

Guy on the PS3 one seems to have slightly darker skin(miniscule better lighten??), but all in all there both look great.

No, the edges on the PS3 are more smoother, it doesn't take 500% zoom to notice that, it's just MUCH MORE easier to prove it that way.
Just look at the PS3 version using MSAAX2 and the 360 does not. The PS3 uses anti-alaising to smooth textures and the 360 doesn't.
Becouse 360 version is running at much higher resolution dont need to use aa ;] . Nad this comparision sucks . Why becouse the enviro has reallu lowres textures and zooming something sow low is useless .

Well the difference is minimal anyway, not like i am gonna compare it side by side, i will only buy 1 version of the game even though i have 2 consoles ;)
The XBOX 360 without bluray disc looks really good. No big difference.
The only real differences I see are that the PS3 version is more colorful, and oddly enough, Heihachi's shoulder is shaped better on the PS3. You would think they'd use the same assets on both versions and just try to make them work on those consoles, but the shoulder in those shots are very visibly different, with the PS3 version looking more natural. Bizarre.

The ps3 could have been better. They had to tone down the ps3's quality just to be in line with xbox's crappy hardware that doesn't cut it.
Check the ones in the arcades. Those are the best and they're run by a ps3's hardware.
So basically, according to the article, the only way to really justify the PS3 fanboism is to zoom the game to 500%..("Look, see? I told you the PS3 is moar 1337")
When in reality, no one really gives a rat's ass about how aliased a background object is when you're fighting another character at (hopefully) 60 fps.
The only difference is that on the 360 one his skin is paler and his right arm is slightly bigger

As tekken6 was on ps3 arcade hardware its fairly logical to summise when ported the 360's video card specs may result in slightly different rendering?
Im pretty sure the 360's gpu is superior to the ps3's as it was custom designed by ati and has more shader pipelines and higher fidelity rendering, the proof lies in the numerous badly ported ps3 versions that were obviously designed from the ground up for 360.. like ghostbusters.
Not to mention nobody's mentioned the intracasies of the different software engines! I mean who here can go into detail about those platform specific pro's and cons?

Yes, 1080p doesn't HAVE to be 1920x1080. 1920x1080 is wide screen, and almost all cases of 1080p are wide screen. So it may as well be explained that way.
1440x1080 is almost never progressive, and almost always interlaced. It's a non-wide screen SDTV ratio. It's the resolution at which most HD TV broadcasts are done in.
Comparatively, I'd argue that 720p provides a clearer picture than 1080i. Most HDTVs are based on LCD or Plasma technology. An HD CRT TV is rare as fucking hell in this day and age. CRTs can display interlaced material perfectly because of how they function. LCD and Plasma are not capable of displaying interlaced material. They simply do not have anywhere near the refresh rates required to do so.
In order to display interlaced material either the source machine has to convert it to progressive, or the displays chip has to convert it to progressive. We all know that de-interlacing is NOT perfect. Upscaling interlaced content, will make this quite absurdly apparent.
Also, both machines RENDER the games at 720p or less and upconvert to 1080p. Even the games that say 1080p on the back of the box, yeah, that's a fucking lie, they're upconverted. It can be proven with a display capable of 1:1 pixel mapping. Almost none of the games on either system are 1080p (even though the box says 1080p).
Also, the upscaling chips in both consoles are known to be among the some of the best upscalers on the market.
Both systems really are quite exactly the same. Any difference you see, is the fault of the developer, and has almost nothing to do with the console.

Most games only output a certain resolution that isn't HD at all. This is due to hardware limitations.
There are games that output 720p but all of them are upscaled to 1080p when necessary.
Wii only supports DVD resolution, if I'm not wrong.
