Japan has placed dead last in a survey of which nations have the most favourable self-image, with a variety of small and insignificant nations topping the list.
The survey asked participants in 33 countries about how much trust, admiration and pride they felt for their country, with the results being presented as an index:

Please don't generalise. There are so many anti-government people and so many others who would love to migrate. That said I think Singapore has done really well as a country. It's one of the most developed cities in Asia and even more developed than quite a few Western cities.
Not to mention it's growth from a backwater country to a developed one within 4 decades was nothing short of a miracle.

No, Canadian healthcare is not exactly free since everything is taken from the taxes of working people and I do accept that could cause problems such as people not working and living off of welfare and shit but the health system is one of the best.

Considering how people in Japan are conditioned to be very humble and not outwardly arrogant, these results are not surprising. We foreigners will find that what a Japanese person thinks is almost impossible to determine from their outward demeanor.
Now, the US being so low surprised me, given how many gung-ho "patriots" we have here.
Canada and Australia does NOT surprise me. The people I've met from both countries have always been somewhat arrogant. Nice people for the most part, but arrogant, especially about their nationality. I wonder if Canadians are more proud to say they're NOT Americans than anything else though.
