The release of Sony’s PS3 Slim has seen Japanese sales of the PS3 surge, with 310,000 units sold in September, easily beating the Wii and even surpassing sales of the DSi.
The PS3 sold 309,939 units in September, compared to 261,363 for the DSi and 61,691 for the Wii (although a $50 price cut for the Wii is due in October). It seems nobody even bothers reporting the sales of the Xbox 360.
Of course, the real question is how well sales of the PS3 will endure once the carefully cultivated shininess of the new unit wears off; considering that the release of Final Fantasy XIII is due in December, Sony may be in luck in this department…

Well, that's expected from pants sniffing S*ny tools. If M$ included dirty pants to every 360 sold in Japan, they would outsell all other consoles, too.

Cause they need a BD player. A PS3 slim is cheaper than a normal BD player you know, so they were very willing to get one rather than wait for the BD player's price cutting, even though they don't play PS3 games.

i think ps3 slim will be 2nd when the xbox 360 modern warfare 2 is out but i doubt that since sony might make a bundle pack too. i wonder why doesnt sony in japan make their own bundle pack too, well if they ask for suggestion i might go for eroge with the side note "equality now doesnt exist!"

This is a misleading article, of course the PS3 Slim will likely sell the most because it's just launched, for example the DSi sold 535,379 units in its first month too in Japan, which edges out what the PS3 Slim sold in its first month...

In Japan everybody and their dog have three DS/DSi, one Wii and everything in between. It's no surprise PS3 slim, a smaller brand new cheaper model would surpass them in sales at this point.
How can you even compare a newly released console with one with a few years on it's back? I find it amazing that the wii/ds consoles even have buyers these days.

Anyone who put off buying a PS3 will have a hard time turning down this one. I bought mine at $500 a while ago. This is a much better deal for both the Fat and Slim models.
I think a bundle might come with Uncharted 1 and 2 this Holiday Season. I know it would sell well even in the U.S.
