Loli oppai anime Bakemonogatari is at it once again, with the latest episode offering the rather erotic OP scene visible above, and with more Shaft quality visible below…

However, much of the episode is “removed due to certain circumstances,” as above – only the voicing remains; in fact these scenes are thought not to have been finished in time.
Producer Shaft has previously been the subject of derision after it was revealed that the company is in dire and constant danger of failing to meet its production deadlines, presumably due to a lack of staff – in fact the company advertises on its website the fact that it is “urgently” recruiting animators.
Fans are hoping the missing scenes and incomplete animation will be restored/finished in the DVD version, but even so this hardly augurs well for future Shaft productions…

Screw it this series is awesome watching it is still a blast
well, the parts you can actually watch, that is
I'll be laughing if they just dump the whole anime series into a drama CD... Lol
Screw it. Bakemonogatari is one awesome anime for it's fans.
I FAP TO KANBARU!!
That's pat of the art XD
kuro
(post cut due circumstances)
the inconsistancies add to the humor i think
Yeah, all the missing frames and the like added to the charm of it and the experience.
Helped contribute to the "What in the hell..." factor without any doubt.
Most of the gist of this series is in the dialogue anyway, so as long as they don't cut those...
If the DVDs do have complete shots then it would be better!
it's all a plot to sell the dvds!
If so, it may just work.
it's a better plot than kyoani's

it's 1337 now!!! :P
still a genius plot :)
it better have dvds and now got to rediownlaod this entire series. stupid bastards should show it uncensored in first place
I doubt you could comprehend any ironic response, so I won't even bother.
I'd guess it's a truism that copyright infringement is severely damaging to the anime industry at this time, as also to certain other industries.
However,
>stupid bastards should
indeed
>show it uncensored in first place.
The high water mark was already breached some time ago, it's over; they're selling pirate masks in Woolworths, man.
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day.
you better use our brain to sort out the series.
I hope Shaft gets shit done soon. If this happens again in their next shows I'll not be a happy camper...
It's like SHAFT is becoming the new Gainax!
Let's see Bake fanboys defend this.
They don't have time to animate, they're too busy being deep.
Bakemonogatari has decent stories with decent voice acting.
So long as they throw in the occasional visual still image to show what's going on, I would watch this show as a slideshow.
Then again, I download it for free. If they expect me to buy an anime DVD there had better be something worth watching more than once.
The show is so awesome, people don't need to be fanboys to defend this.

One season of Bakemono without animation is worth a thousand seasons of Lucky Star and K-on.
Amen
HERESY!
but this show IS tits on glass, so whatever.
All hail Anon powaa!
THEY ACTUALLY ANIMATE THE JAW LINES ALONG WITH THE MOUTHS.
I mean, not in every scene, but still.
I noticed Toradora did this too, after rewatching it recently.
...
Well, at least the animation in general is good, better than the outsourced QUALITY shit other studios want to pass out as animation.
like endless eight
fail. Kyoani is domestic and thus doesnt apply to "outsource".
Kyoani hires overseas contractors for animation.
try asread quality
what do you mean? outsourcing is not directly related to quality.
He means asread quality.
Yeahh...anyway is still a cool show, with awesome animation compared to other mainstream shit (cofcofnarutobleachcofcof)
so true :D
but naruto and bleach are the best.
Believe it!
Habeeb it!
fail
It's still better than the stuff the korean slave animators are producing for their japanese overlords in almost every other studio.
lol...so now Artists/animators who arent Japanese arent just as good?
The artist who did the original light novel illustration of Bakemonogatari is not Japanese... She is Taiwanese (>_<)
Korean animation studios are often outsourced to for cut scenes, and transition type scene drawings. Most of the crucial scenes and animation is left the Japanese/origin studio or if outsourced, "overlorded" closely to retain quality.
Korean slave animators?
See credits here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkys9qOoLCM
+ too many numbers.
Shaft just needs to SLAP DAT ASS, as they've done before.
that explains everything...
Indeed...
A new gimmick to sell DVDs?
Kinda sorta, but not really. This isn't a new thing for SHAFT; it's the director/studio's preferred strategy when they gets outsourced work back that isn't up-to-snuff and they don't have enough time to fix it before airing. This happened before with Tsukuyomi Moon Phase and Hidamari Sketch, among others. In every case, it was always fixed up for the home media release (and in the case of Hidamari Sketch, was actually fixed up for the widescreen version that released a few weeks later).
When this happens to other studios, they typically just air the ugly/unrefined footage anyway and then clean it up on the DVDs, but here they make it more obvious like "yeah, we'll fix this". I guess your choice on which approach is a better way of dealing with the production problem (if it had been horribly low-quality of off-model, it still would have gotten a mocking post here regardless). It's a failure, in any case.
I really like this anime too. It's one of the only animes I've enjoyed watching for quite a while now. It's so rare that meta-jokes actually come out so well. I hope this doesn't turn out bad.
If they actually offer better wages then MAYBE they'd get more animators willing to work for Japanese studios.
If we bought more DVDs and merchandises, they could prolly offer better wages. Think about the supply chain.
Few people here bought DVD sets of American cartoon either. Yet the animators (excluding offshore outsource workers) here get paid reasonably well regardless.
Also, while the American cartoons are still mostly shit. But at least the quality of the products has been slowly but consistantly improving. Can't say the same about the quality of Japanese animation these days. Beside the works of a few good studios, the rest are all in decline.
You have to consider the fact that Japan has been in a recession for 20 years now..they dont have the money~

Fail. You have absolutely no clue. Compare any recent harem/fanservice series to something like Love Hina (circa 2000), and you'll see the difference. When Haruhi came out in 2006, it blew every other series out of the water in terms of production quality. 2009 Haruhi is exactly the same as 2006 Haruhi, but now it's fairly average for a top-tier show.
Must watch and must enjoy new op.
lol, 'Bakemonogatari Shafted'... that really scared me, I thought that the show got canceled for a moment:p
Yes, that was the intended pun, my dear C:
assholes should just delay it and run a rerun if it's not finished.
Really? what a douche >_>
Or, you know, book the TV slots once it's actually finished.
god dammit and this is the studio doing dance in the vampire bund which is probably going to be completely fucked up now.
Oooh so that's why this episode was noting but a loong voice track. that's a darn shame.
I've finally realized the point of Sankaku Complex is to be annoyingly sensationalist, but this one has gotten under my skin anyways. By allowing these inconveniences to seep into the show rather than half-assing everything and pretending it's fine, it's creating a postmodern subtheme to the production that I'm thoroughly enjoying.
Further, Neon Genesis Evangelion, arguably one of the best anime of all time, was absolutely brilliant when the entire production was on the verge of collapse. Shaft could emulate similar conditions to similar success.
Pretentious tripe. The studio must be very badly run to get into this kind of fix. You can admit they messed up catastrophically without saying the show itself is rubbish.
Blasphemy, id say this is the most entertaining show to air in the last month. I'd rate it on the same level as A certain magical index.
Apart from visual nitpickings its unique style of presentation and enjoyable mix of fanservice with suspense itself alone already guarantees a solid 8 on the scale of 10 and only rising based on personal bias.
Finally a show also the not socially starved can enjoy after that moe blob frenzy and pantsu witches constantly stealing the headlines.
The readers demand more Bakemonogatari articles!
/Gets off of soapbox
If they would actually finish animating the loli oppai there would be more...
When i saw this episode i was like hell wtf... There were only few frames and sound in background meaning that there was something actually happening, but nothing on the screen but this stupid "black" and "red" subtitles. All episode is a trash. It should be redone, and they shouldn't be doing stupid excuses, even if so, they should postpone this episode and finish it for next week.
I see, no wonder Arte hardly make any weekly coverage about this show like Queen's Blade; he somewhat really despise it..
i was under the impression that 'Artefact' is a woman.
Hush no need to flatter his ego.
Whether bad run or not it's the only studio being original in the whole Japanese animation panorama, period. Same with animation: whatever you say Ep9 loli oppai was the best ever.
Considering that Shaft has had several joint productions with Gainax, it doesn't surprise me that they took this route and it won't surprise me if they emulate Gainax in other ways as well.
Loving this series and can't wait for DVD goodies ^_^/ yay
I would actually buy this as well
Well, at least it's not a Jiji-heads censorship DVD scheme.. You have my forgiveness, SHAFT :3
This show is so overrated.
Generic harem trash.
so bitter lol.
Oh silly, anon. At least put some effort into your trolling.
Not really. If it was, than the only reason this anime would be popular would be because of the women fawning over one man. This anime is a satire of generic harem trash. The guy's girlfriend (yes, he has one) is a neo-tsundere. All the anime archetypes contradict themselves.
Its really only trash to people who don't know much about anime, can't understand Japanese to a certain extent(high dependency on subtitles), or just doesn't appreciate this kind of humor.
Better or worse, Bakemonogatari is anything EXCEPT generic, unless you're considering other works by shaft.
Well said, that Anon was definitely high on something and couldn't understand where he was.
Your face is UNDER 9000!
Artefact seems to have a stick up his arse when it comes to shaft :p
Bakemono is the most atrractive show this season by far, it doesn't have to be perfect.
Also, Shaft will never die.
That's one of the things you have to deal with on this site, also the permanent, laughable "K-ON is best, Haruhi is shit" and "PS3 is best, the rest is shit" propaganda.
+1
I don't recall ever saying K-ON! is anything but vapid moe-blobbery, there have been a series of positive Bakemonogatari articles and I personally think Zetsubou-sensei to be near the pinnacle of the medium.
Or should I just leave you to your uninformed fanboy-ism?
Notice he doesn't deny the PS3 comment, haha.
Chill out guys, all we can be sure is that Arte luvs Lucky Star. Of course, i'm not complaining nor against it :3
oooh animation work I thought it was hard to come by
all these people who had to leave gonzo could go here
So thats the reason for the excessive amounts of dialogue sheets seen that [Black] text so often in this series and its only up to episode 10 so far
Also noticed very big fluctuations in the quality of the pictures. all closeups are great but the full body sections often show some Code Geass style fail.
I dunno but i found that the [Black] screens pretty artistic and really cool as a style of transition, even if they're meant to cut down the number of frames. If they're going to add more scenes to those gaps in the DVD release then i'll say that will be a huge satisfying improvement/addition. It's like going to a restaurant, enjoy a discounted fresh meal and then receive a reward for being the 1000th customer.
/a/ to the rescue! After the fallout of Let's Flying Love, there is a severe deluge of animator wannabes!
Those were “removed due to certain circumstances?” I always thought it was just part of the show's weirdness. I guess not knowing Japanese does have advantages.
Urgently recruiting animators.
Perfect for aspiring weeaboos.
well.. watched the raw already.. i have to say that int the first part of the ep the animation was pretty good.. well.. bakemonogatari standard that is.. but during the fight scenes it went way downhill.. please please please let more animators join shaft!
and oh yes.. it needs more senjougahara!!!
..and Mayoi and Shinobu.
its an invisible snake they fought...theres really no way to make that fight go 'uphill'
SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAFFFFFFTTTT~!!!!
this is one of the best series i've ever watched, it's a
real pity to hear they have problems.
Hitagi has the same birthday as me ^_^ yay!
So that explains why it took till episode 3 for them to get an actual ending animation going.
this is a shame. the show is SO freaking quality itz ridiculous.
I really like this anime. Hope Shaft gets to fix this later.
nevermind: shitty animu is really boring
He was fighting an invisible snake in that episode...there really IS no way to animate it nicely
I felt the "removed due to circumstances" parts actually made the fight more exciting, made it more suspenseful, and they showed it the way most other fights are animated/shown I think it would've looked a lot dumber.
Also, look at any other things shaft has done, they've done many other "simplified animation making scenes much more epic' like the text message scene in 'ef' just one blank screen with writing laying and writing on top of each other became one of the most memorable scenes in a series
OF all the episodes to be shafted... WHY IS IT A LOLI EPISODE.
I love SHAFT, but they are becoming the new GONZO, using fan service to attract more … well, fans. Then again … haven’t they always been this way?
i almost cried, i thought sengoku was gonna die
Eh, watched the subbed version yesterday.
Considering the pacing of the story, you don't really notice the missing images.
Probably, because previous episodes had similar "inserts" during the action, the Kanbaru vs Araragi fight comes to mind. With the inserts representing thoughts or wishes. Essentially narration for the viewer.
Much ado about nothing, to quote a title from the Bard.
The first pic is not from the OP. The actual OP is actually quite clean.
As for this episode, the lack of animation killed it for me. I was used to a lot of still imagery and stock footage in this show, but to me, it didn't even look like they tried to compensate it with anything. Couldn't they have used something else than the "Voice/Line removed" and the "scene removed due to circumstances" boxes?
Maybe rewatching it again later will change my mind.
Now I know what it means to get "Shafted" O.o ...
123
Watching this episode was worse than watching Endless Eight episodes 2-7 for the first time each (not the first and last ones as those were the only different ones). Watching one of them again after several weeks, though...holy shit, my head felt like it festered O.o ...but this latest Bakemonogatari was still painful to watch, even knowing their current circumstances.
Wtf Artefact, 'onanism'? Please to be pointing out where the hell the 'onanism' is?
Erotic opening? Lolwut?
Fucking wanabee loli-rapist didnt even watch the episode I take it.
Bakemonogatari...what can I say? After watching the series (episodes 1-12) on a weekly basis I completed each episode without fully understanding what was going on. Of course I got the "how the f*** can you miss that?!" bits, but the parts where you had to pause to read the subtitles were a miss for me, so I didn't really grasp the background details of the episode and the character's dilemmas. But still it manages to be my favourite anime this year. A huge redeeming factor of the show was when Senjogahara (sp?) finally makes a f***ing appearance in episode 12, if she didn't come back and show her pretty face, this show would be fail! (A slight exaggeration on my part, but did anyone else feel the same way before watching episode 12?)
Also, I plan on buying the DVD when (and if) it comes out, so I can fill in the blanks that I missed on my first run through and also they can fill in the scenes they cut and maybe improve the animation instead of giving me still frames to look at, which I didn't really mind at all, because I was watching it free. Now I'm paying... I demand quality.
I thought that it was part of the show actually, haha. Just finished watching and must say, I'm really a fan of shaft. I really like their quality. I hope they can give moar! +9000
I still haven't given this series a watch.
If it's this good I'll have to.
...then again I hated K-On and it sold well...
Kinda remind me of Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei with all those inner thinking and Silence Talking . With the Real Pic. showing sometime~ It's give me the goosebump but i like the way the storyline go eventhough each character have it short
thx
This anime sucks dick
