Hmm, i can’t blame you but your comments have lots unfair judgments about my country. First of all, please keep this in your mind. In Turkey, there is secularity, everyone is not muslim. You don’t have to believe any religion, you are free to choose whatever you want to believe. And nobody can’t blame you about your beliefs. That is a law! For example i am agnostic.
But this is true, most people are muslim. And most of muslim people in my country not like any other muslim people like in iran or afganistan . If you ask a person here: Are you muslim,? He would probably say: yes i am. Do you pray often or go to mosque? No, not actually i am not that pious. But here some people are really narrow minded and they think everyone must be muslim and they must obey every law of quran. But again, you can’t judge the whole country by just these few people. And yes, sadly, there are some people too who think about women that they are like slaves. But that’s not common. And we don’t think free women are sluts. Where did you get that idea?
And women are not just for cleaning, cooking or taking care of children -and no, i am not a feminist- i see lots of women at business world. For example head of Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association is a woman.
About arranged marriages. Yes, that is still common but it’s like a tradition actually. These tradition is not coming from islam, and if i am not wrong you can see arranged marriages at korea too.
Actually i don’t like talking about this stuff but lots people in western regions are very biased about my country, and that’s really makes me sad.
