This release announcement for Final Fantasy XIII has drawn as much attention for revealing the schoolgirl uniform-esque outfit of Serah as it has for revealing the date in some quarters.
This seems a slight departure from the norm for Final Fantasy, especially considering the other characters all conspire to look like glamour models or (in the case of the male characters) dirty hobos…
The game is of course due December 17 in Japan, with international releases trailing some months on account of the Xbox… Pre-orders are available now.

I higly doubt that the delay is due to the xbox release... If they keep the announced timeframes it will be the fastest FF releases outside Japan in many years (it not ever). For EU releases usually the wait is nearly one year.
i really depends on the game as the release also depends on demand...
for ff13 the delay is due to the xbox release which requires putting the game in many disc
and also the eng dubbing which can also take time

The english ps3 version is just about as complete as the japanese ps3 version so it would have probably been released within a month of the japanese date if it hadn't been for microsoft paying for a simulatenous released port.
