We need more games like dirge of Cerberus. It was a bit lacking in the shooter category, but it managed to be fast paced with a decent combination of genres. It was good considering it was a first attempt, and likely contributed greatly to Dissidia and versus XIII.

Eugh, ff7 fanboys are worse than naruto fanboys, because naruto fanboys know naruto's not getting remade. Seriously ff7 was a let down to the final fantasy fans, accept this and take it for what it means; it's not good.

When will FF7 get its own remake for the current generation console? FF7 was the best I have ever played and set the bar for me. 8,9,10 etc aren't just as epic

This last Anon is out of line here. Although i have an innate antipathy for FF7 there is no doubt about it being one of the best games ever made. Yes, plot holes, silly developments, weird balance, Hollywood exploits and rampant nihilism are still not enough to justify calling it a "let down"

After final fantasy 4 we all waited in anticipation, and they released ff5, the story was lacking compared to the last and it had it's flaws, but the interesting job system and sense of humour (almost parodying the older games) made it one of my favourite final fantasy games, from expecting 4 to be the peak it became the peak of story, where 5 became the peak of gameplay. I accepted it was a good game, not the same as before, but in it's own right it was great.

Then 6 came out, after final fantasy 5 everyone expected the series to let them down again, 'cos we couldn't see anything being better fun than 5; we were again prooved wrong. The characters were less interesting than 4, the gameplay less fun than 5, and the humour the same as gameplay, but what ff6 had was a great balance, it's own sense of style, and alot of interesting abilities that kept the characters feeling defined even in combat. It created a nice balance, but it excelled in style more than anything else.

Then came 7. We had been pleasantly surprised by the previous installments, so this seemed sure fire to be good, we had seen final fantasy cross over consoles before, and they did it exceptionally well; we accepted there's be a shake in graphics, and accepted it in 7, but expected it to wow us with gameplay and story rather than graphics. Then we played the game, and all went downhill. They attempted style, and created some great mini-games for the time, but when I prefered the mini-games to the main game shows just what's wrong with it. The humour was tagged in, and was way over the top for what essentially isn't that funny, the system was cumbersome and boring, while making all the characters a bit samey, the characters had very little definition, and the story was ultimately whiney. The nihilism is not my problem, infact that's probs the only redeeming feature, it had interesting philosophy, though explained in a fairly lack luster way, and maybe that was it's excelling point, but the previous FFs took good parts of previous games and balanced them while adding a new shine; FF7 took the poor characterisation of 5, the create what you want aspect from 6, and the everyone's the god-damn same aspect from 3. Maybe if 6 wasn't quite so good then I'd've accepted it as an okay game, which it is, but for final fantasy, a series we trusted so much, to make a just ok game was a massive kick in the teeth, and thus it was a let down; not a bad game, just a let down from an awesome series.

Yeah with a title like 'Final' Fantasy, you think it would have died after the first game. Thankfully, it hasn't. Least, ignoring all the fanboys/girls here, both PS3 and Xbox360 fans will get to enjoy FFXIII. Unfortunately it comes out in Spring 2010 at the earliest and I have to study during summer and fall! ARGHHHHH!!!!

lol I guess you didn't know that Square was going to go bankrupt many years ago, but Final Fantasy saved the company, and now the company is keep spawn more and more non-final Final Fantasy and they ain't gonna stop.

Not matter how bad the new and future Final Fantasy games are gonna be, it still got too many loyal zealots buying the games so the sales would still be way higher than average games in general.

actually, the first final fantasy was ( i forgot who's) but it was their last attempt at a game, hence the title 'final' fantasy, but the game did so well, more games came

Actually they've stated they're going to be the exact same in content. only difference will be that PS3 is on one blue ray which means nothing really. Maybe a mandatory install too but not confirmed.
