Isn’t Japan not allowed to have an army or navy as part of an agreement that was made after WW2? How are they having economic problems if they don’t have to stupidly spend hundreds of billions of dollars yearly on an army like the USA is doing?

  Actually, taxes work on a bell curve. At 0% tax and 100% tax, you get 0. In between is the bell, with its exact shape depending on the local economic factors at work. If you are currently taxing people too much, then reducing taxes will result in more revenue going to the governemt. If you are NOT currently taxing people too much, then raising taxes will result in more revenue for the goverment. In almost all cases, thanks to taxes increasing over time, reducing taxes results in a net revenue …
