UN Demands Hentai Ban

The UN has told Japan it must ban adult games and erotic manga featuring themes of rape, calling Japan’s protection of fictional women from fictional rape “inadequate.”
The demands come by way of the UN’s radical feminist arm, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, or CEDAW. Extreme feminist pressure group Equality Now previously vowed to make them seek such a ban, and it seems CEDAW happily complied.
Calling Japan’s treatment of women “inadequate” and “regrettable,” CEDAW formally demanded Japan end “human rights violations” against women by banning games and manga featuring themes of “rape and sexual violence.” It is not clear whether they extend their demands to anime, AV or literature, though this seems likely.
The suggestion that fictional works such as manga serve to promote sexual violence is entirely unproven; it is notable that Japan has some of the lowest rates of crime and sexual violence in the world, and yet some of the most abundant pornography, much of which deals with such themes.
This is of course undoubtedly tied to the intervention of busybody international feminist groups in Japanese politics after the Rapelay scandal…

You do realize that their research actually indicated the complete opposite of the point you're trying to make? They studied (for two decades) the effects of the legalization of hardcore porn in Denmark back in the 60s, and their findings were that no such increase was evident. Their work has been confirmed by numerous criminologists of other European countries that made that move at the time...

The point is, they're not going to stop lobbying them, much like how a child will not stop throwing a tantrum against a parent until the child gets what they want. So until either something else bigger comes up, or Japan gives in like they did with the eariler bans, CEDAW will hound them like hungry dogs.

In their minds, rape is always something that happens in a darkened alley, by a stranger, with a gun/knife/obvious physical violence/threats. They don't get that it's about them taking the right to consent away from the female, thereby making sex itself from something fun into something violent and terrible. 1) No, it isn't. Rape is about sex, obtained through violent means. It's just that with pussy involved, everyone's minds get clouded due to instinct, indoctrination, and reflex. As has been mentioned by others, "to say that rape is about violence is like saying that bank robbery is about guns, not money."
The problem here is the attitude toward sex. Countries with a lenient (or even understanding) attitude toward sex tend to have fewer issues with rape than countries that have strict laws preventing it.

Note that Japan is near the bottom of the list there, even with all of the pornography, eroge games, hentai, and what not that comes out of that country. The US is in the top 10. This is because while Japan may have a conflicted view of sex, they at least recognize that it is natural, and normal. The US has an ultra puritanical view of sex, the sexual revolution be damned. The only thing the sexual revolution really did was create a legitimate sexual underground that pornographers can make money off of. Sex is still considered bad, and any misstep in trying to have relations with someone can get you thrown in jail forever. Laws are so fucked up that you can go to jail for actually raping a child for less time than if you merely had pictures of a child being raped. In the US every man is a rapist until proven otherwise, and to top it off, the median attractiveness for women in the US is probably somewhere around 4, with the mean being somewhere around 3, as it is the norm to be fat beyond all reason here. Not "not supermodel sized," or "athletic" or "reasonably healthy and proportional." Fat like Santa Claus fat. Throw all of that together, and you have a perfect recipe for a rape disaster.
