UN Demands Hentai Ban

The UN has told Japan it must ban adult games and erotic manga featuring themes of rape, calling Japan’s protection of fictional women from fictional rape “inadequate.”
The demands come by way of the UN’s radical feminist arm, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, or CEDAW. Extreme feminist pressure group Equality Now previously vowed to make them seek such a ban, and it seems CEDAW happily complied.
Calling Japan’s treatment of women “inadequate” and “regrettable,” CEDAW formally demanded Japan end “human rights violations” against women by banning games and manga featuring themes of “rape and sexual violence.” It is not clear whether they extend their demands to anime, AV or literature, though this seems likely.
The suggestion that fictional works such as manga serve to promote sexual violence is entirely unproven; it is notable that Japan has some of the lowest rates of crime and sexual violence in the world, and yet some of the most abundant pornography, much of which deals with such themes.
This is of course undoubtedly tied to the intervention of busybody international feminist groups in Japanese politics after the Rapelay scandal…

Though it seems that this letter is written from a female-oriented point of view, I definitely agree with anything and everything stated in it. I'm most certainly going to sign and send it.

The reason it is written from a female-oriented point of view is because the attacks are entirely based on the same point of view. People bastardizing the term "feminist" to mean "complying with our chosen moral codes and bias against males" rather than "for the general benefit of women as a gender" are responsible for this censorship, exploiting their idea of what a woman should be as a crowbar. The letter(s) serve to correct the unspoken (and thus implicitly accepted) assumption that women don't have rape fantasies, women aren't sexual, women are not supposed to ever act submissive, and so on. Equality Now and similar groups do NOT represent the silent majority of women that don't condone real rape but at the same time aren't stupid enough to think that banning fictional depictions of something will do anything at all to end the real-world performance of it.
Feminism is the foot in the door, so correcting the perverted use of "feminism" slams that door shut, and does so in a much more permanent fashion...plus, it keeps them from claiming that a bunch of evil single mid-20s white men are trying to silence them through hate speech. Not that Equality Now would say something like that. Wait, shit.

While the group of people who lose something might be rather small, the group of people who would actually benefit from such a ban is non-existent. Moralists who feel more comfortable about themselves if things they don't like get banned don't count.

Various studies of human sexuality has found that 85% of all healhty adult women have rape and submission fantasies. It is rare for a healthy woman not to have such fantasies. It isn't that they want to experience it in real life--- but the fantasy of being "caught up" and "powerless" and "forced" to be a purely sexual object appeals to certain parts of their subconsious.

You know, you do realize that using smear tactics and spinning information about these sorts groups would have just as useful to us as it is to them, right? The "truth" alone isn't going to do shit, because anyone can ignore it as a "lie".
If you truly feel that we're being threatened by these rats, you have to wake up and discover that you can't just restrict yourself under the guise of "civilty" or play "by the books". In order to have some AUTHORITY over the situation, your actions need to reflect that you have as much passion as these faux "sex-negative" groups, that you are really focused on your goals and that you have absolutely no doubts about the fact that YOU ARE RIGHT and THEY ARE WRONG. You cannot simply expect diplomacy to have any sort of effect on a determined enemy that has a tendency to scream and yell with both eyes and ears closed unless you possess some sort of LEVERAGE or AUTHORITY over the fucking situation. You have to back EVERY SINGLE WORD that comes out of your mouth with some teeth, and you have to show that you possess the willingess to sink them in if they don't comply. Does your group have any sort of LEVERAGE or AUTHORITY over the situation? I don't think so--That's why you have to MAKE some of your own, which involves getting your hands dirty, like they've been doing ALL THIS TIME.
If all you do is just send a bunch of identical letters to them and they catch wind of it, they can simply block them with their spam filters and disable any sort of attachments to prevent the .PDF files from going in. How do you expect your 'diplomatic' effort to get through if your opposition can simply ignore them? They'll just see you as an insignificant insect that isn't even willing to do shit. I stand in full support along side with my colleagues, who are responsible for "yestofreedom", that violent protests and actions will get you nowhere, and are not the way to seek answers.
We - shall - get our point across, even if its *JUST* one person who (has) changed their mind (after) reading a posted letter, email, or (by just) observing the way we (professionally) have approached the issue.
There are times, when an action, as you seek will be required, but, as MelancholyMomo stated... this is not the time.
Because ~ its been proven, in all aspects, time and time again within political arenas, conflicts, and religious circles...that a violent confrontation is not the answer.
