Pretty cool bus. Reminds me the time my friend took a school bus he drove to work and fancied it up.

It was the middle of July and I was outside, drinking a cold beer as the evening sun began to set. Cicadas were crying off to the distance, Kotonoha was sleeping in her room, and I had just finished fixing a time paradox I had created due to stupidity. Life was swell. Until I started hearing music playing.

"What on Earth is that?"

I listened carefully, trying to make out what the song was. It became louder and louder as the source drew closer. Then it dawned on me, the music I was hearing was Kūsō Rumba.

"Who the fuck is playing that?"

At the end of the street, I heard a loud screech. Quickly, I ran to the end of my drive way, realizing whatever made that screech was the source of the music. What appeared before my eyes was a bus completely covered in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei pictures. It was godly.

"Hey, Peter!"

A familiar voice came from the bus. It turned out to be my best friend, Mark.

"Look what I did to this bus. Pretty sweet, eh?"

"You are going to drive kids to school with this thing?"

"No, I quit. I'm going to go cross country on this baby, spreading the wise words of Zetsubou Sensei!"

"Then how did you get that bus? Isn't it property of the school district?"

An awkward silence came between us too. From the looks of it, he took it, modified it, and plans to drive across the country without telling the district.

"It doesn't matter, what's done is done. Want to come along?"

Kotonoha came out from the front door, yawning while she rubbed her eyes.

"Daddy, what's that music?" she asked half awake.

"It's just Mark being an idiot again."

"Mark's here?"

That made her wide awake. Mark proceeded to jump out of the bus while making some kind of pose. Sadly, he landed wrong and fell flat on his face, but quickly got back to his feet.

"Hey, Kotonoha! Want to go cross country with me and spread the word of Zetsubou the Wise?"

"Yeah!" She exclaimed excitedly. However, I wasn't gonna let her near any vehicle where Mark was behind the wheel. Unexpectedly, a hobo with a army boot on his head emerged from the bus.

"Hey, you gots more booze?"

Mark was irritated by his appearance.

"Get back in the bus you old man! I need you so I can get in the carpool lanes!"

"Pffft, fucking kids and their lack of respect for their elders!"

Kotonoha was amazed by this turn of events, but I picked her up and proceeded to go back to the house.

"Well it was nice seeing ya, but I think we're gonna sit this one out."

"Oh well. Maybe next time."

Mark got back into the bus and started up the radio, but instead of music from Zetsubou Sensei, it was some old Swedish song from God knows when.

"Oh yeah! Can you take care of my gold fish for me? Later!"

"Good luck." I said as I held up a thumb up.

"Good luck!" repeated Kotonoha, along with a thumb up.

The bus darted down the street and eventually out of sight. That was the last time I saw Mark. My only guess is that he got in a car crash and died, drove off a cliff and died, was killed by the hobo, got a hooker and died from AIDS, or was arrested for stealing the school bus. Wherever he was, God's speed! Also, his fish was already dead when I checked up on it. Poor thing.
