Fans of 痛車 / itasha (the so-called “pain cars” favored by otaku) expect the Comiket to be flush with the lovingly otaku-decorated vehicles, and this year’s Natsucon does not disappoint.

If you're willing to "live beyond your means", you can have all sort of cool toys... for a while.
I know a couple in the U.S. who both have reasonably good jobs, a nice house, his-and-hers BMWs, home entertainment system, computers ... and probably no savings whatsoever. I have the impression most of their money goes to paying interest on loans, credit cards, etc.

Otaku hail from diverse lifestyles: some are NEETs, others are normal people with a socially ridiculed hobby, and the rare few happen to be wealthy enough to turn their expensive vehicles into something any sane person wouldn't want to drive in public.
Or they are like me and just lucky as hell some times. Most of the expensive things I have were either won, or I ripped someone off for them.

There are cars I seen thats has anime air-brushed on the car and really looked impressive. But these people just put a shit load of stickers all over their car. It's almost Japan's version of nascar.

Yeah, K-On1 is a little overrated at times. Good? Yes. Fantastic? No. Though, I don't care, the ties that they released were awesome which is all that matters.
