You can’t imagine how much this means for Japanese game developers. Until now, they’ve been hugely limited in terms of what they can do within a low to mid-budget project because they’ve always had to build their engines from scratch. The inability to use universal pre-built game engines is one of the key factors for why Japanese games in general have become so stale as of late.
