Even newspapers have been reporting that the seemingly interminable Endless Eight arc has finally ended, perhaps in order to prevent civil unrest.
Speculation now falls on whether all or part of “Disappearance” will make its way into the season. A cliffhanger or lack of the arc would probably mean the story will never see the light of day as an animation, as it is hard to see another season arising out of this fiasco, and even the novels are in a state of indefinite hiatus.
Observers are united in their curiousity as to how well DVDs containing the episodes will sell; Kadokawa looks set to employ some underhanded means to avoid the humiliation of having four DVDs of the same episode being bought only by Haruhi fetishists…

Can we get through this? YES, Yes we can! Im dissapointed though, all this time i was awaiting Haruhi for the piece of shit they released. In the end overhyped series are doomed to fail. Have you even READ the novels? They have only covered around 2~3 volumes' worth so far in two 'seasons', with 4~5 volumes still untouched.

Uhh...there's a lot of light novel left. They've covered all of books one and three, and have had stories from books five and six. There are still chapters from five and six, not to mention books four, seven, and eight, so there's still a lot of material they can cover. I doubt they'll cover two, and nine is a two-parter which hasn't been concluded yet, but they still have quite a bit of material to work through.

Yes, but they don't own the rights to those novels. There was already a legal battle over the current ones.
I've been doing some thinking (rarely happens, but bare with me). This "series" is supposedly 28 episodes long including the old episodes thrown in. Assuming they include all episodes of series 1 (inc Mikuru movie) then that's 14 new episodes in total. 8 of those endless eight, one bamboo leaf rhapsody. That leaves 5 episodes for other stories. For disappearance to be done properly, they'd need to dedicate at least 4 of those to it so it doesn't seem like glossing over the story. Alternatively, they could air random short stories and piss everyone off even more.
Aren't DVDs for collecting purposes anyways? It shouldn't matter which episodes are in them, just give them pretty covers or something.
Or they can include some dancing in the final episode and regain the sympathy of most of the fans. It's not like otakus are a complex kind.
Believe it or not, some people actually watches the contents of their DVDs. Legends say you can watch it in your TV and even get some extra stuff as a bonus.
I wouldn't give that last part much credit, however.

Well I havent seen the endless eight yet, it does sound kind of intresting. Is it like that one episode of Stargate, where they were caught in a time loop, and they had to figure out how to get out of the loop? Or is it more like Groundhog Day?

In 'Groundhog Day', Murray Remembered that day. The group, but one, do not remember the "endless" cycle and just repeated the same fucking things over and over and over again. Yeah- I know Nagato said they didn't, not doing some things and doing different things.. but kyu-tard damnation never tried to show anything new. Fuckin' waste of good animators.
In Stargate, you don't have a character that remembers all the loops,that is bored the fuck off. Sorry if spoiling but that type of reaction of yours pisses me off: Nagato is so bored that she will change the whole world.

Yea, there were 2 characters in the Stargate thing that did remember the loop, and were so bord, that they learned to play the piano and different languages. However, it was one 50 min episode.
The difference is, Endless Eight almost gives you no new information each episode.
These eight episodes could have been condensed to three at best, four at most, and I say that quite seriously. Most of the episodes are the same lines, same scenes, and oh! different clothing.
Or, after episode 2, the story is repeated through the viewpoint of other characters(including haruhi).

From what I've heard, it was Kadokawa that wanted 8 eps, and since they sponsor KyoAni, KA had to agree. KyoAni, however, decided to say "Fuck you, we're not going to reuse animation" and then completely re-animated and re-voiced all the episodes from scratch, making it pretty much as expensive as a regular episode.
Also, nobody cares if you say, "Fucker". This isn't supposed to be a work-safe site, if you haven't noticed.
If they somehow manage to fit the Disappearance arc into this season I suppose all is forgiven.

I enjoy the series. I don't think the series itself is bad at all. In fact, the story is pretty well-done (especially if you read ahead in the novels) and is one of my favorites. The big problem with the series is just... the creators are doing the worst possible things they can to ruin it for us all... >.>;;;
BTW, anyone else just think the staff is stubborn and wanted to have 14 episodes, but because of the future events of the novels, they didn't have enough room in the second season to put it all? So they used Endless Eight to fill up the season instead of fillers, which they don't want to get into at all...

They should do a survey so fans can choose their favorite version for the DVDs.
The only way for them to sell the DVDs is to have a random pair of Endless Eight episodes on each one. That way if you are really so psychologically damaged that you want the complete set, you may need to buy many more than 4 of them.

I will never truly forgive or forget this fiasco, but if KyoAni go on to attempt to surprise us by treating the entire Endless Eight arc as a single episode and giving us another 10 new episodes in the second season I will at least tolerate their continued handling of the series. If, however, the new series ends in another 3 episodes without doing ANYTHING of worth then I will personally see their entire studio lynched. Out of gratitude for Clannad ~After Story~, I will at least kill them quickly.

I heard a random rumor that someone said that this episode is the end of the season. Their reason for stating this was because of the credits and how there was real action in the credits as opposed to your usual credits.

Endless eight was the most stupid shit I ever watched. Basically throughout 8 episodes we watch the same thing over and over just drawn differntly and supposely they are in a loop rewinding 15,000+ times and it all ends when one guys says "LETS FUCKING DO HOMEWORK!" and escapes the time loop. I want 3 hours of my life back please
My question to you is why did you even bother to keep watching it if you knew it was going to be the same most of the time anyway?
