You can clearly see the difference even in the thumbnails. The one with Mio looks like it came from a pinup poster or something rather than a screenshot.
Wow, that looks really nice.
Definitely a difference.
Dang these are to small for me to use as wallpapers D:
Here´s to hoping that the bluerays get released outside Japan.
me 2 but not freaking 2 episode each volume.
for the early release 4 epsiode each volume and for the next year a full season box.
I can see that the those blobs called hands in the animation haven't changed, or even been redrawn. I'm perplexed and confounded by the fact that it was an animation quirk they added on purpose...
My max rez is 1920*1080.
Sadly, I got enough of K-ON after 3 eps.
you guys must be crazy
example the price on play-asia.com
for Blue ray version = 60 EUR x 7 vol. = 420 EUR i know there are some goodies with the limited edition but is that not to much for 4 h 30 min video ???
That is what anime costs in Japan. The majority of anime revenues usually come from DVD sales, so these prices are the only reason you see any anime at all.
i do want to buy for it like whole season for 40 EUR for the Blu Ray version. Not this ripoff price the whole series can put on one duel layer Blu Ray
if you look carefully, there can see the improvements throughout the 8 pictures, clearer pictures you can see it being refined very well, including the brick arch, you can see mio's face a lot whiter than usual normal skin tone and the picture in general is a lot more clear than before
slightly different?!?!
are you guys serious?! the difference is pretty night and day..... now i dont have elite monitors, but the difference is quite obvious. maybe i should take a small section of both images at full scale and put the side by side...... if u still can't tell the difference i dont know what to say...
here is the side by side small section in full scale.... dont tell me you cant see the difference lol.

I didn't notice until I fully zoomed the pictures. The Blu-ray version is slightly less fudgy and has slightly better skin tones.
not much diff , r u?
My maximum resolution is 1440x900 and that's still not enough for me to play 1080p movies since the lines are still choppy even the action's smooth.
Huh? If you played 1080p on that monitor, you'd still be getting 160x80 more lines compared to 720p. Although probably not worth getting 1080p...
what are you guys talking about theres a huge difference in ever picture
I have to say, that's some nice quality pictures there. Good thing my PC can support 1080p
I thought no one gives a shit about this show anymore.
too bad it's not. The truth hurts eh ?
Not really. Apathy towards shitty shows, you too should try it sometime.
Finally! i can make my azunyan background with that!
what so good about K-on anyway?
Thumbnail.. Meh... Enlarged.. HOLY SHIT!
I can't imagine if Kara no kyoukai was in 1080p glory. I'd cry within my heart.
I can't believe there is even a debate about this, it's pretty clear(lol pun) that the Blu-ray version looks absolutely superior.
Bluray version is much sharper and the colour gradients are smoother.
You can see the better colouring in the shot of Mio and the better sharpness in the shot of the whole band.
Holy hell that's beautiful. It's so clear and...beautiful.
that's not gorgeous, its shit in HD is all
lighting difference, sharper pixel, cleaner image, no watermark. I like blu-ray.
Yeah I like bandwagon once a while. then again, I'm also Asian, too, but who gives a shit.
Woot Thora picked up the BD version!
I wonder how the movement has changed?
For me, the image quality is only slightly better, but not enough to get a Blu-Ray player and then the DVD.
If the motion were improved significantly, then I might reconsider, and I mean maybe...
I just got in the first K-ON!Limited Edition Bluray along with, Eden of the East Bluray:LE 1 and the Code Geas R2:Zero Requiem limited edition boxed set, and while all three have gorgeous video, the K-ON! 1 disc has the best overall PQ, as well as a few neat extras included in the neat purple/pink Bluray case that everything comes in.I've got the 2nd br on order that should arrive around the 19th along with the first BR edition of Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood, which should also hopefully have reference quality PQ if early reviews are to be believed.
That's it, I'm buying the laptop blu-ray drive. I'm not getting a TV anymore.
Can't wait to get the DVDs!!!!!
Actually the colours are a lot more vibrant on the bluray =D i love how they look <3
The 2nd comparison in Blu-Ray makes the anatomic problems of the characters worse...
I was watching the raw earlier and I love the crisp and clearness.
i dont see much diff.....
click on the thumb nails doof
I think it was trolling...
just outa curiosity, whats with the slim blackish lines on the sides of the HD pictures?
Would it make the show better if it was clearer?
beautiful~~~
I finally understand why Blu-ray is better.
Too bad I can't afford it.
Is that the power of Blu-ray ?
Sony is shit as usual.
you fail at...something.
It's a Sony
For those of you who can't tell the difference, let me put how damaged your vision/monitor is into perspective...even the thumbnails are noticeably sharper, even when viewed on a 1024x600 10" monitor...
^ Word!
There are differences, but not THAT much.
SMOOTH...~~
I can even see each strand of Mugi's eyebrows... JK
You r right
Finally, the TV cant hate Mugi now
It's quite a noticeable difference, even though I would never pay a dime for anime myself. :P
I wouldnt spent even 10 extra bucks for such differencs. I even download episodes in lowest definiton possible to cut on download time, cuz I just dont care, I watch anime for artistic and story value, not for some hazy pixel value.
Does anyone know how much the blu-ray costs compared to the regular DVDs? Also, are all the episodes included?
Tasty.
by the gods! it's wide screen! finally the legendary mio panchira will be(?) revealed!
Well, you could see it if you have a LCD screen on your computer...
I saw it 2 months ago :P
What has having LCD anything to do with widescreen?
Ui in blu-ray!!!
Hell yes, Ui :D
at last blu ray comes \o/ \o/ \o/
Colors are sharper, I think.
Mio's skin is now snow white. :p
I don't notice a difference aside from the broadcast watermark.
Are you fucking kidding me?
Same here.
I would hit that @$$ so hard!!!
I'm using my cellphone and I can see a difference…
I wish my Graphic Card was THAT powerful... =_=;;
I am seriously DISGUSTED by people who cannot see the difference. GTF OFF THE INTERNET AND SIT THERE WITH YOUR ANIME VHS TAPES.
^ speak for urself...*Narcissit*
you get to much fap... mio... fap... mio...
clean that white shit from your eyes or monitor and see it again!!!!!!!
AND
FVCK WITH THAT BLUE RAY,
DAMN IT EVEN I LOVE TO GET 720p from broadcast and they don't fullfill that dream!!!
I'm on a 5 year old PC and monitor and even I can see the differences. What the heck are you guys using? O_o
u guys need to fix up ur pc's with better monitors, u can clearly see crisper images for the bluray ones.....-__-
All i can say is... All the 720bps files are laggy on my PC... T^T
Thumbnails, most likely.
damn it....
Mio + Blue Ray = OWNING!!!!
Hey... don't knock the Commodore :P
HALP!!! My Commondore can't see the difference from the 2 pictures!?!?!1
Sorry wrong link this one id direct ...

^ for those insisting they can't tell the difference i stitched them together
blu-ray recommended ;)
DO WANT! o.o
and i WISH i can AFFORD to buy THAT @__@
only difference my poor old PeeCee can see is Mio's whiter skin in the 3rd comparision T.T
i wish my monitor afford 1080p res...щ(゚Д゚щ)
Are all you faggots serious? OPEN THE IMAGES TO COMPARE.
I can't be the only one to see a huge difference. I can notice it even from the thumbnails!
the imeges are slightly sharper and there's very monomal tweeks to the contrast nothing else
go get yourself better monitors or something. It's not a night and day difference but it IS noticeably sharper.
Indeed. My monitor is a 40" 1080p TV, so I need pictures as sharp as possible. **add to wallpapers folder**
Even in the tiny thumbnails the Blu-ray looks so much sharper... I think someone needs to take a trip to the optometrist.
none can deny the difference but i agree with them, lets just say the blu-ray isn't good to enough to for someone to rebuy it.
Yeah, I can see the difference anyone else that says so are either blind or need a brand new monitor or they never in their life had a eye for detail (most likely). lol
Yeah, from the thumbnails there is a small insignificant difference but the enlarged images are drastically different.
Are you even clicking on the thumbnails? How can you not see the increased sharpness?
But the HD broadcast was not even broadcast in true HD... it was upscaled. You can tell just by the fact it has dot crawl and color bleeding that they have used an analog standard definition master tape at some point in the broadcast process...
Agreed. Not that much sharper to warrant paying for.
must be anti-bluray crowd
You either need a better monitor or get your eyes checked. >__>
The BLU Ray Version is Sharper.
You see that, when you compare the pic with the guitar.
You all need to press the thumbnail first, and then press the full size icon on the bottomright of the image.
If you still don't see a difference you're using a high ress flatscreen at 800x600 making everything blurry as fuck because it's not using the native resolution. If that's not the case please get your eyes checked, I'm not even kidding.
the blue ray shots are more sharper and the colors more crisp
The Broadcasts are station up-scales from Standard Definition.
Kyoto Animation provide stations with SD masters for new series so that you still have incentive to purchase blu ray on release ;)
i don't even know why they are discussing the quality of the image, it would be obvious that BD would look a lot better
it would be a lot better if there was some sort of image quality improvement, like better drawings and stuff like that...
