The cover to the latest Haruhi ED single, “Tomare!” (Stop!), is attracting unwelcome attention for its attempt to rewrite the laws of perspective, chiefly at the expense of Mikuru.

Looks fine to me, they have clearly tried to make it looks like it has been shot on a wide angle lense (Which causes this "incorrect" perspective you seem to have noticed)

i dunno. from a dadaist POV, the whole 'Endless Eight' tomfoolery is brilliant. the fact that it is a post-modern aside on a genre MOHS was in no small part responsible for creating is just fantastic.
from a fan's perspective it is almost unforgivable.
Maybe the road is too steep, not flat, and Mikuru is standing at lower part of the road than Nagato and Haruhi, so then she was drawn like that,,,

KyoAni have also announced plans to release the CD a further seven times, each with slightly different perspective used in the cover art. Each CD will be marketed as a new single, but will actually contain exactly the same songs as the previous ones.
Don't blame KyoAni for this. Blame Kadokawa!

I stumbled across a show called 'Gintama' ep.167 where the android in the show caught a "bug" and the nutty insanity was great! Not on the madness of 'Zetsubou~' but the humor was very enjoyable.

The fact that the background looks kinda warped might idicate that the picture was meant to show a wide perspective lense affect, IE those semi spherical mirros at end of road intersections. In that case then there's really no problem with the original.
But I've seen REAL pictures using such warping that that picture was trying and it does NOT even match. If the head was bigger due to the distortion, the rest of the body would CURVE inward!
I find it funny in how 2ch reduced the size of the last girl, but fail to realize that she was crossing her arms that would accentuate her cleavage!

its the warp effect you get when a picture is taken of an object up close. try it yourself; get a camera and take a photo of something close up and you'll notice that the the center is slightly stretched out. it's because the lens is spherical. this is also who professional photographers never take a photo up close but get right back and use a zoom feature. I think the artist was trying for that same effect. it's just not drawn out too well.

Perspective has nothing to do here. They clearly made Mikuru shorter than Nagato.
This franchise has long since fallen, even before the executives went with the idea of producing extending the Endless-Eight arc unto more than 5 episodes. It's not entirely the anime's fault.
Mikuru has always been shorter than Nagato.
But yeah, Haruhi is dead. It's more of a joke than Naruto right now.

After more than 9000 hours of research, my investigation team came to the conclusion that 2ch did a good job fixing the perspective of the three characters situated in the picture.

Remember that photographic lenses also distort perspective.
You have to take that into account, as this picture IMO is very likely supposed to evoke the same effect an ultra-wide-angle camera lens would produce.

God, please don't be talking of "laws of physics" if you apparently lack knowledge of physics yourself.
Ever heard of wide-angle photography? That perspective distortion effect is very evidently a replication of the distortion effects that an ultra-wide-angle lens (in the 16mm equivalent range) would produce.
My Sigma 10-20mm lens (16-32mm equivalent on APS-C format cameras) produces exactly such effects at the edges of the picture. Quite fun if you're trying to make funny pictures of people.
Nowadays Haruhi is sucking at EVERTHING, seriously How did one of the most popular anime get like this :(

The Endless 8 might not be a unanimous success but many people including myself have found this idea brilliant even if it's starts to get too long (5 episodes should have been max).
But come on: a semi-disappointing arc + a nice but criticizable CD cover do not make a failure.

Endless Eight is hooooorrible quality...the animation is worth a Naruto Shippuden Episode, there's no effort in creating a heavy atmosphere, the drawings are completly failed, the Seiyuus suck...

Having art courses for years I didn't notice a huge mistake (I just thought Yuki was always the smaller one but I was wrong) ; I showed the image to my colleagues and they took some time to notice

Looks to me as if in the original, the heads were plastered on like a bad photoshop edit. The 2ch ver. looks much better in that regard IMO.
Even the "correct matters" are still wrong, specially on Mikuru's proportions.
Ehm, there are such variables as aspect ratio, lens focal length, field of view, etc.
This anime got totally fucked (season 2) it got so SHIT that I'll NOT watch it anymore, and started to hate it.
Then don't watch it, let those who still appreciate it talk about it freely.
What makes me laugh is the 1st season fans who thought it was awesome...the 14th episode and the 10min-length where Yuki reads her book is much boring than 20 Endless Eights.
At that time I did not heard that much complain.

Endless Eight is a series of Haruhi episodes (the most recent), where it basically repeats the same episode (or time frame) over and over again). Although the scenes are animated differently... It's pretty much the same...
