Otaku Buys 174 IdolMaster Figures…

idolmaster-puchi.jpg

Another obsessed otaku demonstrates his mania here – he has seen fit to procure 29 boxes of IdolMaster figures, in this case Nendoroid Puchi The IdolMaster Stage 2.

idolmaster-puchi-2.jpg

This would come to somewhere in the region of $1,500.

At least he will have an impressive legion of idols on display, more than can be said for the even more profligate Mio headphone maniac

    I'll never understand this sort of spending. Why buy 174 of the same figures when you can buy 174 DIFFERENT figures?

    Or 87 different figures in case you destroy one of them in protest of an anime jumping the shark...

    It's his money to spend, but I'm just saying I can't fathom why he'd do it.

    So... like... I don't get it. Why? Why? Of all things, why the number 29? What's the significance of it? Just because it's a prime number? Or because if you put it in Japanese, it sounds like "niku" (meat)?

    Comment by basilio

    29 = nijyuukyuu (二十九)
    2 = ni
    9 = kyuu (but can be "ku" such as when used for 9 o'clock... 九時 )

    Thus, 2 9 = ni ku.
