In some ways this is like watching a classical play that's been performed thousands of times by different theater troops. After a certain number of repetitions you can say the lines along with the characters and the only real interest is if the actors somehow manage to reveal something new about the characters or the staging reveals new themes.
MHS2 is too fuwa-fuwa to have enough depth to support this kind of examination.
If KyoAni really want to fuck with the fans, they won't release the episode which resolves it, leaving that one for Season 3.

Ever since the first recursion where they realized they were in an infinite loop, after Kyon asked Yuki for how many times they've gone through the loop, and she gave an absurd number, my response has always been, "Wait. Kyon, ask her how many times you've asked her that question."
Of course, with each passing episode, the same response has become somewhat more pronounced. The most recent I recall being more like, "KYON, DAMN YOU, ASK HER HOW MANY TIMES YOU'VE ASKED THAT BLASTED QUESTION!!!"

The way they have done Endless Eight is a novel idea and probably sounded good on paper, but they could have executed the idea a bit better. They could have limited the number of episodes they did it in, especially if there is a limit on the episodes, and there is so much other stuff to cover, (if it was a longer running series, it wouldn't be so bad). Or at least put a bit more variation in, as Nagato describes, there were variations, events being omitted, variations on part time work.
However, I am not getting really angry like many fans mentioned in other articles here and on the internet in general. I find it kind of funny when I realize it's going to be effectively the same episode again, and keep wandering, will this be the last one? I watch till the end just to see if they finally figure it out! Plus, it's not the end of the world if something your a fan of doesn't quite meet expectations.

Anyways...don't they know that people could get the idea with the first and second episodes? I mean, one normal episodes, then the second episodes where everbody's like "WTF? We repeated everything how many times"? Way to screw up a (moderately) popular anime. I just hope that when the DVD comes out and you watch all the episodes we have the option of selecting one version of the episode (yes, it's actually eight showings of the same episode) to watch.

So glad I dropped this after the third recursion. I knew they would pull this shit, there's really no point to watch the series in general anymore.
They had three fucking years to get it right, and this is what they give us. I could somewhat understand if this was only six months or so after the first season, since it would mean they just wanted to throw something out to the fans, but this had more than enough time to be good, and they can't even get that right.
Fans wanted Disappearance, that's pretty much it. Most of us couldn't give fuck all for the rest. Endless was a one chapter story, for fucks sake. There's nothing innovative about what they are doing, Groundhog's Day and Higurashi/Umineko did this kind of thing already, and actually made it entertaining to watch.
And if you're expecting a good payoff for all this blind faith, you're in for a disappointment. The light novel end to EE is simply that Kyon needs to do his homework, and everyone, including Haruhi ends up coming over to help him, which in turn helps Haruhi transition back into the school mindset. That is what you are looking forward to.

I personally find KyoAni's tactic in submitting repetitive episodes intriguing. They're truly a company to be reckoned with that explores territories that no other company would tread.

Dude, there's a REASON no other company would dare to tread this kind of new ground- because it's a FUCKING STUPID IDEA. Just because it's original doesn't mean you should do it. They're just being pretentious because they don't realise that being artistic does NOT equal being good. Haruhi was never popular because it was deep and philosophical, it was popular because it was fun. Endless Eight is NOT by any stretch of the imagination "fun". And hence Haruhi is no longer popular. Makes sense, doesn't it?
Think about it... why is it that Neon Genesis Evangelion became such a huge industry in itself? The answer lies in its extremely controversial broadcast.
Nobody forgets how the last two episodes were complete psychological oblivion, and how GAINAX followed up with two more films to replace those two. Remember the death threats that the director received?
The only difference between that case and Haruhi's case is that GAINAX suddenly had virtually no funding in the last episodes when their scripts were rejected. KyoAni is doing this 100% intentionally.
The one thing KyoAni can do to make this even cooler would be to interrupt Endless Eight with an episode that chronologically follows EE, and then revisit the final EE iteration in the last episode of the season.
Comparing NGE with Haruhi is like comparing Bach with Britney Spears.

I expect that the true nature of doing something like this lies not in any intent to piss off the fans as much as it is to create controversy and to do something no one else has done before (however moronic).
What they gain from this is far more valuable than what they will lose. People for years will be talking about what they did (good or bad). And as anyone in media knows, there is no such thing as bad publicity. Butthurt otaku will eventually get over it, but they will never forget it since it was such a radical thing they did.
