Minami-ke Destroyed by Asread: Final Sales Figures Dire

Fans of formerly excellent baka-yarou anime Minami-ke have been dealt a final affront in the form of the final sales figures for the series, which seem to indicate a tragic and irreversible fate has been forced upon the show thanks to the much maligned involvement of hated animator Asread.
The final DVD sales figures (for the initial week of sales where 90% of sales are usually concentrated) run thus:

I don't see the problem season 3 has sold about the same as season 2 (a little less) but that's normal.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a season 4 at all.

Heh, back when I watched the three seasons, I didn't even notice any changes between the seasons. Chiaki seemed a bit off at first, until I noticed her hair colour had changed. Figured she had dyed it.
When I read the first article about it here, I thought it was being sarcastic :D.
Personally, I don't find some faulty animation and drawing big enough a deal to ruin an anime on its own. If the story and the voices are as they should be, why is it such a problem that a few scenes and/or frames are QUALITY?
I mean, considering the medium it's understandable that you'd prefer nice visuals, but going as far as denouncing their existance, merely because the animation isn't as good as before seems petty..
It's a wonder how they managed to make something great like Garei -zero-. Oh wait, maybe it was AIC that did everything.

It like Asread picked up on the sequels just to stick it up the fans' collective ass... like a big, fat, "FUCK YOU!"-sign from them to us.

Having censor-fogless or censor-darknessless versions for DVD-releases is one thing, but to fix animation blunders it would take the anime back to production stage.
yeah, a good example would be the Geass remake...many studios do it lol.
There was that Birdy the Mighty episode recently, I think.
For Miname-ke, though, it'd pretty much be a complete do-over of the entire 2nd and 3rd seasons.
It has been done for a great number of shows. Dunno about Minami-ke though.

Before I get trashed for comparing Asread to Ohira (heh, I know it's coming), keep in mind I've only seen SanCon still-frames of Asread's Minami-ke work. I don't know anything about him beyond that.
If you click on the Shinya Ohira link you can see how some animators can assemble sequences of highly abstracted frames to end up creating some truly artistic looking motion happening in scenes.
And it wouldn't really be possible unless each individual frame looked physically impossible if paused on throughout the animation as a whole...
Perhaps Asread is just misunderstood? Or still in training wheels for this approach?

At the very least, it must speak of the quality of Minami-ke's writing that it lasted 3 seasons even in spite of this much-maligned producer switch. So here's to hoping it will be worth wading through the Asread seasons anyway...
After reading up on him, apparently Asread worked on Ergo Proxy as well, but as an in-betweener. In fact, all the shows he did in-between animation for looked brilliant ( http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=4437 ). Maybe this has taught him to just stick with what he knows?
I'm usually one of the first to defend curiously deformed art as intentional/stylistic choice (at least when combined with breathtakingly fluid animation), but in the case of Minami-ke, it's really just pure incompetence on Asread's part.

Second season was better than first, if you exclude that damn little four-eyes brat. Hosaka was hotter than ever.
just ignore the fail animation and pay attention to only the voice, and comedy and you'll be fine... For the most part anyways.

Asread couldn't animate the GARness of Hosaka, thus leading to this upset.
Actually I thought episode 10 of okaeri was hilarious. In both animation and sound.
The greatest/most interesting contribution from Asread's Minami-ke was probably Hosaka's "Song of Curry"...but then again it was not really a contribution by Asread, but instead was a contribution by Ono Daisuke (Hosaka's seiyuu) himself (since it was him who came up with the song lol).

Asread was obviously just trying to imitate the mangaka. Minami-ke's manga is one of the few popular ones that has had a reputation for the artist getting progressively worse each volume instead of improving... orz
