Virtual idol Hatsune Miku’s first game, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva, has proven a runaway hit, with sales figures for the first week of its release showing it managed to sell 100,000 copies, only being beaten by Wii casual game “Wii Sports Resort”…
The sales figures are impressive in their own right, but for a character game focused on Vocaloid antics they can only be taken as a sign of runaway success for the innovatively marketed vocal synthesisers.
Doubtless Miku will be receiving more games in short order, with a full scale home console version an interesting possibility…

Dusted off the psp and haven't stopped playing since it arrived. The Miku nendroid is incredibly cute.

On a sadder note, figures that Sega needed Miku to break a 100,000 sales because THAT guy keeps slipping further and further...
My copy came in the other day. So far, the game is rather underwhelming with it's incredibly easy down game play. Maybe it's just that I played too much DJ Max and expected a game with at least a slight bit of challenge. Oh well, at least Miku bouncing around in the background is nice.

well, the gameplay is not exactly great, so what could you expect?
A lot of people have been saying this but after playing it for a few hours today, I can't find myself hating the gameplay.
At least it only uses one hand. Taiko no Tatsujin is great but the PSP has a tendency to rattle out of your hands on some songs... Project Diva doesn't have this problem as your free hand can properly hold onto the thing.

The Wii I used to have got good use, and I play some 360 games with my little cousins when I visit. Project Diva is an amazing game and deservese all the praise it can get. I really hope they make more games. The only problem is there is 0% this game will be translated and sold outside of Japan, but that can be said for a lot of good Japanese games so I'm not worried.
Personally, I wouldn't have any complaints if, say, NIS America were to slap some English lyrics on it and toss it on the Playstation Network. Maybe if we ask them nicely?

The success of Miku Hatsune pretty much solely based on the character design. On the other end of the spectrum, if you have a vocaloid looks and sings like Susan Boyle, it's probably not going to sell at all. And that lady is one hell of a singer.
Helps that Miku's "voice" has that cute charm too. Meiko doesn't have anywhere near the popularity of Miku, and it's not only because of the inferior technology, her voice bank is typically too deep for most anime-esque songs.
