An apparent case of strap failure ends in disaster for overly rambunctious 2ch Wii user, although the effect is at least interesting to look at.
Of course, whether the fault lies with the user or with Nintendo’s made in China strap is an open question, perhaps best settled by a class action lawsuit, some might say…

Seems that he needs a bullet proof glass for his TV
If i was that guy all i could say while staring at that tv is.......
FUCK!!!!!!
2ch user's fault
Wiimote's strap is old those are the newer ones:
http://dvice.com/pics/wiimote-straps.jpg
Nintendo owned Sony
It's very subtle advertising hint by Sony that you won't get cracked screens if you get a PS3 to combo with that HDTV instead of a Nintendo Wii.
Wow. I guess the sleeve for the 'mote wasn't as much of a TV saver as Nintendo had hoped for.
Just a way of Nintendo getting revenge on Sony ;)
I'm more amused at the fact that that TV is still half working. Perhaps Sony doesn't want to loose to Nintendo that easily...
Which game did they play?
i dont know but the japanese text on the tv translates to "wtf you failed on easy?"
obviously the users fault, what a fail
You need a great talent to make something so stupit as throwing your Wii Remote at your TV. Epic Fail.
wth.. Given the picture the user either:
a) Didn't use the strap
b) Put the strap on lightly.
Either is a fail option which puts the blame on the user itself rather than the product - even in the most frantic games, you never need to swing too hard or fast.
Actually, that's one of the old model straps. Nintendo already released a better, stronger version of the strap about 4-5 years ago because stuff like this kept happening. I would know. I have a wii and got the newer straps.
if that's a flat HDTV , that , definitely , gotta hurt your ass alot!
This is so fucking funny. xD
FAIL BLOG FTW
Classic
wiimote fail is specific to wiitards.
wiimote dangerous
beware guys D:
The force is strong in that one
hahaha
fckin wiimote!!!!!
fckin rtards!!!!!!
It wasn't worth looking at,until I saw the Sony.
Epic compatibility issue.
This shows that gamers are strong enough to throw a controller hard enough to destroy a tv.
=P
Funny that with all that TV screen, it hit so close to the edge...
HA HA!
FAIL!
Its's Nintendo's Conspiracy. Damn Nintendo Sure is Scary.
soon, television will have bullet proof layer added on! :)
forgot to add this
from picture: nintendo > sony
Even with a strap on, I never swing the Wiimote around like crazy.
There's only one game that I can think of that you can be playing and have this happen and be understandable. And that game is MadWorld, because shoving street signs through peoples skulls has never been so entertaining. (Yes it's on the Wii and is Rated M)
hmm..the strap looks like the 1st gen Wiimote strap. No wonder it broke.
That's one of the reason I sold my Wii.
Besides the quality of the games.
Just wait till Monster hunter 3 comes out, 2ch will be full of Wiimote fail.
the television is now art. just leave it like that forever.
It's part of a marketing campaign for Nintendo new line of WiiMote shock proof LCD displays... "Sony got nuthin on us yo"
The Wiimote obviously wanted to go after the Sony screen. The winner is clear.
Wow at the tv ofc .. >_>
and who say wii is for kid
um, i never use the strap that comes with the wiimote cause it cuts off circulation for me but never once has the wii mote slipped out of my hand, let alone got thrown across the room. i think the problem is not the strap but the idiot user for not realising that your not supposed to be swinging your arms around full force with playing a wii game. it does not take much for the wiimote to register your movement.
.... You can't fit your wrist into the wiimote's adjustable wrist strap? Goddamn.
If he can't fit his arm through the adjustable strap, his version of full force is probably a lot less than our full force, let alone "normal" force...
This looks like it was photoshopped to me.
See, you never have these problems with a 360. xD
no you get a WHOLE new set of problems.. Like the Red Ring of Death try say that at a gay bar and mean games...
I'd be willing to take that TV off your hands!
Someone was way too into the game...
http://www.wiidamage.com
Who are these people that can throw a wiimote with enough force to damage a TV screen from across the room?
You'd be amazed at the damage one can do with a relatively light projectile launched at high speed.
I'd be willing to bet the wiimote itself is still working just fine.
This happened to me too.
I was playing Wario and my hands were sweaty, and slipped out of my fingers. The band snapped, and it flew a few inches past my widescreen and into the wall and broke.
I had a small stroke during the slow-motion watching of it flying through the air.
Plexiglass shielding is significantly cheaper than a new 1080p 40+ inch LCD screen.
But my Wii's been gathering dust for a very long time, so it's pretty harmless.
nintendo's attempt to take out sony's products
ITS A SONY!
Or is was.
comment of theyear!!!
This.
lol
lolololol XD
And next time you'll get a Nintendo flatscreen with your Wii.
I believe if they didn't ship with straps AT ALL, people would thrash it about while making sure they had a better grip. The strap gives them a false sense of security, so they swing like crazy idiots.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one who realizes this... Praise to you good sir.
tbh its user faill...
i have yet to see why people throw them selfs around like mad when a simple movment gets the same result..
but oh well
I dunno about that necessarily. I certainly don't think it's that much less infrequent with the strap unused, considering that I've not heard many cases of the strap being prone to failure.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrrvkPo7TZ4
It's hard to tell but I'm pretty sure this guy wasn't wearing one.
Mama~!!
in the slowmop at the end it was still attached to the wiimote
he hadn't bothered to wear it
Waha obviously energetic wrist band fail of the wiimote
More obviously a Sony failure for not installing ballistic front glass on their TVs.
Or a Nintendo-Sony compatibility failure.
Seriously though, he had to break the TV that was more expensive in name only.
it seems like nintendo is raping sony agian
Lol.. ^^
That's it? I've seen worse with an HD TV... ^^;;;
poor tv...
It's a Sony
+1
your pic is very appropriate for that comment XD
eh? The Tv looks better this way...
Why the fuck are these guys using force to play Wii? You can basically play every game by just making short (but fast) movements, no need to play Wii Sports Baseball and use the same force you would if you actually played Baseball. The strap is basically there to protect you from *dropping* the Wiimote, not throwing it.
+1
Wow the controller is still in one piece. It's made out of nintendum!
its called nintendium btw....
Only in British English.
this is what happens when you play with your fapping arm.
This is what happens when you DON'T play with your fapping arm.
*fixed*
No this is what happens when you play like a retard. I've had my wii for years, no strap or rubber grip and this never happened to me. It's probably because I don't swing my wiimote around like I'm having a seizure.
L2 grip IMO
I have never used the straps (or even attached) on my Wiimotes and I've never come even close to losing grip of it (also without the Wiimote "condom")
There's absolut. NO game that needs that amount of trashing to play properly
Agreed, I can't believe the people who've actually broke things or hurt themselves with the remotes. It only takes a small amount of movement to perform actions, and swinging harder doesn't make it work better. Plus, the remote shown even had the wiimote condom on, how the hell did they manage that?
Agreed, no game requires that kind of force to play. I'll admit that Nintendo's crappy motion sensoring can be beyond frustrating, perhaps causing one to launch their wiimote at their TV. But this is hardly a fail on Nintendo's part.

i was looking if someone already posted it.
How energetically are you swinging it around O__O I've never done anything even close to throwing a wiimote by accident. You don't have to be that energetic really!
At least it isn't an LCD TV. If it is an LCD, yikes, say goodbye to your $2000.
how about this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrrvkPo7TZ4
THE WIIMOTE CONDOM DOES NOTHINGKS
I have a Wii & have never needed to use that much force in any of the games i've played.
"Nintendo's made in china strap" nice more of this pro japan, and degrading of other countries. Guess who designed that made in china strap.
Don't blame, that's our kind Artefact for all time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrrvkPo7TZ4
that appears to be one of the old straps that Nintendo offered a free replacement program for some time ago. I find it humorous that its user sought to get the "wiimote" pad but never replaced the actual strap.
Nintendo signed off a while ago that those old straps were too thin for 'excessive force'.
Miyamoto probably didn't expect the sheer hulklike strength of its mostly retarded fanbase and their wildly frantic flailing.
*flail*
Aren't people supposed to hold the damn Wiimote? Who the fuck would be swinging it around by the strap to play ANY Wii game? Incidents like this just make me *facepalm*. A strap is a false sense of security, just like rape whistles...
LCD screens are fragile. Seriously, mine does the same thing now, and only because a lamp fell on it. Excepted that it looks more like a bullet impact, on the whole screen. It looks pretty amazing. More amazing than most crap on TV anyway...
