After lots of yaoi titles were shown in yesteryear, finally a decent yuri series that isn't mocking its fans anymore, unlike Maria+Holic though. However Maria-sama Ga Miteru 4th Season still reign supreme to me even though it was made for female audiences, unlike this one.
Right now I'm eating a big delicious caek made of an awesome biscuit, soft cream, lots of bananas, pineapples, some oranges, and walnuts. Mmmm......

Since this one is aimed for male audiences, do not expect MariMite-style awesomeness in last winter.

The Aoi Hana manga is published in Manga Erotic F, which is an alternative magazine that targets both genders (there are even yaoi manga being serialized in it).
And about male characters, there are plenty. You already know Shinobu (Ah-chan's brother), which is going to date Mogi, and there's also Kou-san, which is Kyouko's fiance and also shows interest in Ah-chan.
So don't be mistaken; this is yuri, but of the realistic kind, not the Otaku no-males-allowed kind.

The OP gives too much away though (hint: naked protagonists). Maybe in Japan the sort of person who would watch this has already read the manga and knows exactly what happens, but if you don't, it kind of spoils it right from the start seeing them there together "like that".

I have high hopes for this one. I have yet to read the manga, but I have read Hourou Musuko by the same mangaka and I've fallen in love with that story.
Aoi Hana is a really sweet manga and I hope the anime can live up to its quality. Its a must for fans of shojou-ai romance. Though it can be a bit depressing at times, it is really worth checking out. A real quality title.
